2010 Maxima: "Tweak" to Deactivate Alarm on Key Fob?
I read with interest the "13 Tweaks for Your Altima" thread elsewhere on this message board. I'm wondering if the same kinds of tweaks are available for the 7th Generation Maxima? I am determined to figure out some way of deactivating the alarm button on my key fob, which I set off constantly. Is anyone familiar with any dealer tweaks available with this make/model, or alternatively, any way to physically deactivate the alarm button so you can't set it off accidentally? Any help would be appreciated.
Take apart the key fob and physically remove the button from the circuit board, or just trim the pushbutton down so you can't push it. Then fold up small piece of paper and put it where you just cut or removed, so the keyypad button doesn't get pushed in.
How To Remove Alarm Button 7th gen KeyFob
I was so sick of setting off my alarm accidentally when having the keys in my pocket I finally decided to remove the button..
Here is a basic DIY for how to do this. It is reversible, just make sure you save your tiny metal button! The only tool you need is a small flat head screwdriver- the kind for repairing glasses worked really well for me.
STEP 1:
Pry open the Key fob to reveal 2 pieces. I pried from the indented spot on the side and it came right apart.

STEP 2:
Lay out the pieces so you can keep track of them. Then pop out the circuit board by pressing on any of the buttons from the front of the key fob and remove the flimsy rubber guard from the circuit board.

STEP 3:
Flip over the circuit board to reveal the four main push buttons. The bottom metallic button is for the alarm. Take your small flat head screwdriver and GENTLY pry the METAL button housing from the plastic sensor. See the pic for a better idea.

STEP 4:
Now you have 2 loose metal pieces, DON'T LOSE THEM unless you never want to reverse this. I actually stored my pieces in between the rubber guard protecting the circuit board and the hard plastic of the key fob beneath the NISSAN emblem.

STEP 5:
Put the housing of the key fob back together and you are done! No more alarm troubles when the keys are in your pocket. Just remember that your panic button is now disabled until you re-install the metal button housing!

Thanks for that. I've never set off my panic alarm on accident, but I HAVE popped my trunk a couple times and didn't know it. Barely spotted that it was open before driving off. Hopefully it doesn't keep happening because I don't want to have to disable that button.
I never set off my alarms by accident, but I do put the alarms to good use. At night my wife has one on her nightstand and I have one on mine. They make a great burglar alarm. Hear someone rummaging around the place at night set them off, nothing like a lot of noise to discourage such behavior. Besides it's really cheap insurance.

You know I did this SOOO many times. Come home at 4am sneak the car in and bamm alarm goes off. At my nissan store they have these rubber covers for the key fob, I got one, it sits up above the buttons. I have not had once accident since.
