MAXIMA 3 YEARS IN A ROW

https://www.alg.com/residual-value-awards-history.html

This car is obviously something special in the eyes of those who know, now I'm not saying it's all that but it has to be special to make this list 3 times in a row.

all those awards are meaningless. Cadillacs get awards for residual value to, does it hold it's value ? no it doesn't.

it's all about the bids it get in the real world.

At 190 inches long and 14CF in the trunk, how do they figure the 8 gen Maxima is a full sized sedan? Full size is a Grand Marquis at 212 inches, even a current Taurus at 203 and 20CF trunk...but not a Maxima.

Length and trunksize are not high on the list of things that may be considered when it comes to placing a vehicle in a size category. The primary factor is cabin room. The size of other similar vehicles in a manufacturer's roster of models can also be a factor. Although weight and price should not truly be a factor in size placement, I suspect the fact the Maxima is a heavier and more expensive car than the Altima, Accord, Camry, etc, might be a minor factor.

The Maxima was moved up to full size with the '04 6th gen, and its very roomy cabin was a primary factor in this action. The general consensus at that time among rating services was to place the Altima in the mid-size category, and the Maxima in the full-size category. Once that move has been made, the fact the 7th gen Maxima has slightly less cabin room than the 6th gen Maxima did not result in returning the Maxima to the mid-size category.

Just as with almost every placement of the Maxima (such as what 'competitors' to match it with, etc), there will not be a true or natural fit. That is just the nature of the Maxima. I long ago stopped worrying about where folks stuck the Maxima and just sat back and enjoyed the ride.

truth. i can testify from experience. when i traded in my white one for the Z, it was a sobering reminder of how meaningless those awards really are.

You guys are right. When it comes time to get rid of a vehicle it's a level playing field. That's why best scenario is to keep your vehicle as long as you can and get your money's worth out of it.

I'd rather put down a few thousand into my current Maxima and be done with it than have a monthly payment for 3-5 years!
