Cruise Control Issues

I've got a 2009 that I've only had a few weeks, and everything works with the exception of the cruise control. Once in awhile it just won't engage. The green light at the top of the tach comes on indicating it's armed but the set or resume buttons won't engage it. The first time it happened, I parked the car overnight and it was working fine the next day. It's happened again twice since then again tonight. I've parked the car a few times now and it's not working at all now, I don't think.

Wouldn't be a fuse since it's on and off, so I don't really know what to check on this car. I've never owned anything this new. =)

As a road warrior, i use mine daily on my 09 and the only times when i have experienced the issue is when trying to engage whilst still accelerating and once where my big feet were inadvertantly resting on the brake pedal. You may wish to try using it again and double checking these circumstances. Hopefully, it is only this and not something more costly!

Well, as it turned out - I guess the set/resume button on the wheel has to be pushed a little harder than I was pushing. On top of that I do see what you're saying about it engaging while accelerating. The combo of the two was my issue I do believe. I think I may even need to take the wheel apart and check the contacts. Previous owner may have smashed on it or something.

Wow.. I feel like a total monkey.. Wasn't even a janky switch, it was just me... LOL I was pushing the damn button up to try and set it, instead of down. I knew it was down to set, I don't know why I started pushing it up all of the sudden. I used it normally for the first 2 weeks, then went stupid I guess. The switch is fine, the cruise is fine. <sigh> I am not.

Thanks for the input though. I just need to chill out and pay attention to what I'm doing.

Just proves you are not a politician. Politicians never admit any mistake of any kind.

I had a moment similar to yours last month. My wife was standing at the rear of the Maxima, waiting to drop our cooler in the trunk. I was less than a hundred feet away jabbing at the trunk opener button on the fob.

We never go anywhere without our cooler with blue ice in the trunk, so I have been doing this many times each week for years. But this time, for some reason, I was jabbing at the button repeatedly, like trying to lock or unlock the doors, rather than holding it down for two seconds. So the trunk never unlocked, and I was blaming the fob and the sensor.

Yet all the time, it just a weird brain f__t of my own making. I hope this was a one-time thing, and not yet another indication the neurons in my old brain are finally becomming disconnected.
