Gutted header/cat

Gutted header/cat
Ok just wondering if anyone is running a hollowed out cat with O2 simulator? Our maxima has full Stillen exhaust, since there are no real header upgrades I was wondering if anyone has done this? If so which simulator was used, did it make sound or performance difference?

gutted cats is the way to go for many reasons
1. you could do it in your driveway
2. more power
3. more power
4. you will need a CVT cooler because the more the power your engine will produce the faster your CVT will limp out.
5. Order 2 of these and install them to your o2 sensors and you wont get a CEL
oh and your car wont be "crazy loud" you will just get a little back fire when you downshift .....def gonna sound much beefier minus the rasp because you dont have headers and the OEM Manifold is VERY restrictive even with HFC you will ONLY get 8-10hp lol

Nice, thanks man. Where do I find a cvt cooler for maxima? I've gutted cats before, mainly diesels or gas vehicle but that was on deployments so emissions didn't really matter there. Ya I just want it a little bit louder than now, Stillen exhaust sounds good IMO but wish it was tiny bit throatier

you will pass emission test because i do with headers (NYS EMISSION). Gutting the "cats" will most def give your car a deeper tone because the stock manifold does not have mandrel bends as headers do which gives my car a little rasp. You will most likely also get some back fire while down shifting which is not obnoxious.
Long story short you will get the exact sound your looking for.
The CVT cooler im actually still testing because the CVT has 2 pumps a primary and secondary (which 99.9% of maxima owners dont know) If the fluid levels do not reach a certain level of pressure it will throw a error code (which only shows up on the computer i use for testing, no ODO notifications such as CEL or CVT light)
I am also testing the CVT temps on my car vs my friends stock 7th gen under the same load/ambient temps. The last testing im doing is the connection setup (OEM Radiator -> cooler Vs Dedicated connection to Cooler) which is what im working on now
for a little insight my cooler is a hayden cooler with fan (which i control from a switch that is in cabin) $150 + Tubes
Note: The CVT pump also works as a heater/cooler for the CVT. During winter days it will heat up the fluid within a few seconds to eliminate lockup to the tranny during super cold temps and when the tranny reaches a certain temp it works as a stabilizer to try and maintain temps so it does not increase above 230F or else shyt will hit the fan.
