FYI- Driving without the key in the car

SO i thought i give it a try.
Started the car, took the key and left it home and went for a ride.
Besides its flashing "No Key", surprisingly, i was able to drive around the block.
With that said...what is the point of the "No key security system?"

yeah you can drive around forever basically until you run out of gas without the key or if you shut it off then you cant start it...

every car with a smart key is this way. It's a feature, not a security feature. I don't know why people think it's some type of security thing.

Yeah, it's a convenience, not security. I think it is pretty neat though, what with sensing if the key fob is outside the car or inside the cabin. I do have to remember to carry out the key when I park at a store or some such, else I leave it in the console.

i was under impression that its suppose to shut off if the key is outside the car and anything such as brakes, shifter , radio gets switched/touched....kind of like a remote starter ya know?

And they don't have to shut the car off to get more gas for it. It's just like any other car. You don't leave your keys in the car so don't leave your car running.

yea this isnt a security system, just a keyless entry and start keyfob. if you want security, you will want to look into a car alarm. i recommend viper

I havent personally tried this on my max but I know for sure, it works for Infinity G37. I was with my friend in his G37 and he stepped out to go into a store...the car turned itself off saying no key...

Thanks for bringing this up...will have to try on my max and see.

Viper alarms are great, I use to won a Clifford alarms back in the day until they were bought by DEI, things kinda went **** up.

I would recommend CompuStar Pro series alarms also. So many features you can add with that alarm including "DRONE" which you can activate and monitor from your Iphone or certain cell phones.
