Condensation in Headlight

I have started developing condensation in one of my headlights. So I went to the dealer to try and get it covered under warranty and they said until they see water in the headlight there is nothing they can do.. Anyone else having any issues or any suggestion without replacing the entire headlight assembly..

tell them to look up the definition of condensation! ( idiots!)
I had the condensation in the mirror leds, as a matter of fact several of maximas' at the dealership had those...so i made them replace it, with that many cases in front of their eyes they had no choice

There is a TSB for moisture in the headlight which is in line with what the dealer told you. They consider some fogging to be normal but if "water droplets or pools" are seen then they investigate further. TSB NTB03-074e.

"some fogging" is a symptom that the seal has been compromised...dont wait any longer and demand replacement, thats what i would do.

8.26 of the owners manual....

Fog may temporarily form inside the lens of the
exterior lights in the rain or in a car wash. A
temperature difference between the inside and
the outside of the lens causes the fog. This is not
a malfunction. If large drops of water collect
inside the lens, contact a NISSAN dealer.

^ i get what they say, however To me condensation means that the water already is inside.
I personally never seen headlights fog up without a broken seal...

I agree that a compromised seal is probable the cause. Even a bad seal from a gasket around the bulb could cause this. Not to say won't lead trouble down the road as it rarely resolves itself.
I have seen a "little fog" in my left rear tail before and thought nothing more of it than a temp difference issue though I will continue to monitor this closely especially after rain exposure.

^ lol

i agree it should be covered under warranty. try unplugging one of your bulbs for a few hours to let it equalize, then put the bulb back in and see how quickly the condensation comes back. make sure all your bulbs are installed right too, if one is halfway on or something it can create an opening.

if theres a way for you to get one in there you can throw in a desicate packet (the things that say dont eat me and come in shoe boxes) to absorb the moisure. a few guys i know who do custom headlights attach one inside for good measure

And for those who had no choice but to smack their rear tail lights from the inside with a rubber hammer to remove them probably doesn't help the plastic lens seal integrity either.

interesting point, never thought of that. i smacked mine with a mallet to get them out after breaking a small piece off the side trying to pry them out (was able to super glue it back on so you can barely tell, but C'MON). honestly they're still fine though over a year and a half later.

i hate how these tail lights are attached to the car. i want the engineer who designed that portion of the car to be fired.

Both my side mirrors have condensation in them, nothing major but you can notice it, well I notice it I keep an eye on it, the dealer I mentioned it to said it was normal, it goes away once the humid atlanta heat leaves which is another 2-3 months

I passed another 7th gen, I think the only other 7th Gen at the school I go to and the drivers side brake light was completely full of condensation/cloudy, it reminded me of the solution GM did for condensation in the lights, the TSB called for drilling drainage holes in the bottom of the lights

its why I have not attempted to install my reverse led lights, at this point I may just buy reverse HID lights

My problem was my passenger side mirror turn signal. I noticed condensation in the signal lens. I went to my Nissan dealer and they looked at it and looked up the part number and saw that they had the part in stock and it was fixed within an hour. Very pleased.

I would just pop one of your bulbs out to allow room for dropping a silica packet into the light. This absorbs the moisture, eliminating the haze.

The rubber grommet around the bulb (or cover if you have HID), not the bulb hole itself so it can drop behind the reflectors. It might burn up if it's in the projector bowl.

Speak with the service manager. I went to my local dealer with the same issue (no condensation was present at the time) and they switched it right out. Good luck
