Just picked up an 7th Gen!

I am so gung ho about this car!

I been admiring 7th Gen Maximas for a while now.
Mostly from afar though...

Finally been able to afford one.
It doesnt have leather or Nav, this of course helps make it more affordable.

What I do get is the fundmental 7th Gen Maxima goodness at only 19,000 miles!!!!
I have not owned a car this close to brand new in several years!!!

Gushing Review:

1) Drives smooth and with authority , feels like a true luxury car not just "near luxury", feels a lot like the brand new M's I drove at Nationwide Infiniti.

2) In interior is roomy and well thought out and in fantastic shape.
Just gorgous layout great ergonomics, just perfect for a minimalist like me.

3) Handles great for it's size, High speed lane changes or speed bursts from 70-90 are handled with contemptous aplomb.

4) Feels like I am driving a new Infiniti!

5) The car just wants to storm along the hiway.. its hard to keep the foot off the throttle!

6) The interior of the car exudes a vibe that is half 1960's Mercedes S-Class and half 1st gen Infiniti Q45.
This my friends is not a bad thing

What's in store for my A35?

A) Tomorrow morning I will baster out a quart of coolant. add a botttle of Redline Wetter Water and top off with distilled water to the cooling system.
The RWW will reduce caviation at the water pump and imrpove surface area at the cooling fins, making for better coolant flow and heat transfer. The slightly thinned out mix will also have a somewhat improved heat capacity.

This should help keep coolant temps low and assist the trannys longevity (Tranny is usually connected to radiator temps via a heat exchanger)

B) My next "mod" is to always gas up with 93 Octane.

The combination of A and B should enable the ECU to stay in its "Happy Map" as much as possible, which makes more power.

C) As soon as the brakes need replacing I will add steel braided brake lines and MOTUL 600 brake fluid in combination with Hawk performance pads.

A,B,C are minimum effort "mods" that will give some tangible benefit for this car and will not endanger my still-in-effect power train warranty.

I already did the turtle wax "Ice" interior treatment earlier today. But since the material is so new, its effect was almost imperceptible.
Also already added a 20 oz bottle of techron fuel system cleaner since a low mile car like this will have been inactive at some times, in its 3 yr life.

On drive home I notice Car does have the infamous "Rocking Chair" loose drivers seat problem most 7th gen seem to have.
As I am out of bumper to bumper warranty so I will have to get that fixed on my own dime.

Welcome!
May you enjoy your new ride for years to come. So what color and model year is your Max?
FYI...I just installed a set of Eibachs springs on my 2010 premium and have to admit that it is probably one of the best modifications you can do to this vehicle
The ride quality suffers very little in respect to the benefits in handling, acceleration control, braking, and overall stance of the car. (wife person hasn't complained once since the spring change).
Have fun!

welcome man and congrats on the new ride! sounds like you got some nice plans to start out. i second the brake upgrade, this car is fat and needs some additional braking power

welcome and add some PSI

btw you have a good thought with the radiator fluid but bypassing the rad for CVT cooler with a aftermarket is your best bet.

I agree and my transmission is young enough ( only 19000 miles on this 2009) that it might be worth it.
Wonder about winter tho in these CVT's..if i bypass the tranny with a cooler..

Is the water wetter any good? Anyone here used it and measured if it's actually making a temp difference? Seems like a super simple thing to do...surprised I haven't seen it mentioned here in the forums before.

The RWW is used by most folks on the 240sx forums here:

And also here is a recent RWW review I wrote ( I admit not very scientific)
