Should I buy an 09 Maxima?

I bought an 04 pathfinder LE Platinum 4x4 (last of the very reliable model) last year and I love it for what it is and what it can do. Now I'm looking at an 09 Maxima with the SV trim and only 28,000 miles I can get at a decent price for my wife. After looking up problems with this model, there are a lot of complaints about the suspension (wheel and passenger seat shaking) and electrical problems. Are these isolated or real problems with this car? She has a 2006 Honda Accord coupe EX-L V6 right now that has been rock solid and just don't want to trade to something that is going to cause problems. Would love to hear straight from the guys that own them. Thanks in advance.

i have an 09, my passenger seat vibrated if nobody was in it but Nissan issued a TSB that has a metal bracket that stops a majority of that. other than that, the main complaint I have is the motors in the steering wheel column seem to die so a lot of us have turned off the auto up/down of the steering wheel to save them. other than that, its really been a great car. the issues i see posted up here are small and irritating, the bigger issues seem to be pretty rare. i recommend the 09 Max.

I Gotta o9 Max... why pay more money for the same car.. If it's got like over 100K then maybe not but if it's floating around 30 or 40K i would get it... don't be shy about the 100k Bumper to Bumper warranty tho...

what is involved in replacing the steering wheel motor? Is this minimal dash board removal?
I got the bumper to bumper wrap added to my car specifically due to all the electronics. I like being covered, but I don't want anyone ripping up my dash. Maybe getting a brand new nav system at the 119 k mile mark would be ok

Can all tilt wheels be turned off? I read some post about it can be turned off with the navigation equipped cars but not for the others.

Only the SV w/ Premium package has a steering wheel motor. So if the car you're looking at is a regular SV or Sport you have no worries.

That's not true the Sport Package Maxima also has the auto tilt wheel motor in it

I agree with this 100%. I have a 2012 SV Sport and it has the power tilt steering wheel. Now, whether or not this feature came with the added technology package, I am not certain, but I have it on my Sport.

Thanks, That is good to know. So does it have power wheel at all or is it just manual only. I know the 07 SE model I had had the power tilt on it. The packages and options on these newer Maximas are very confusing to me.

What would you say a good price would be for a 2009 SV with the cold weather package and 28,000 miles would be? Does not have Sport, tech, or premium options.

not sure how many dash pieces come off, but from what i gather people have been quoted 500-800 to replace both motors in the steering column cause they have to order the whole column or something cause Nissan doesn't sell the individual motors

I have a 2009 base S and so far no issues at all.

Just regular oil changes and a dealer tranny flush at 55k miles.

A 2009 s with 30k miles= $18k ( trust me, I have inside information ) ... If a dealer tries to sale for more its all mark up...

I'm not sure what the extra amount is for the winter package

This one Im looking at is the SV with the winter package. No sport or premium. At the 28,000 mile mark and I can get it for under the price you posted.

So if I take it to a Nissan dealer does a TSB mean they will install a bracket for free or will I have to pay them to do it?

BS!

If you can get a Decent/Good condition 2009 "SV" with Winter Package Under 18K with only 29K miles i'd be suprised... I wouldn't be on here asking no question to anybody about the cost... You should get it no Questions asked.

Where are you looking to buy this?

PS: I wouldn't trust every website either.. Mikey's Used cars will tell you any lie to get you to come down there and instead of being a SV its a S or instead of it being a 2009 Maxima. it's a 2001 Nissan Sentra lol...

in Nov 2010 I paid 26k for an 09 Sport/Tech with 22,000 on the motor and in fantastic cosmetic condition.

Nissan TSB's should be free if you're under warranty. if you're not I can tell you what part it is it looks to be a really easy install

Well you ended up being partially right about your comment. Im very well informed about car buying and all the tricks out there. This place was not a small shady car dealer (I did come across one while looking for a Maxima). This place was a new car dealer (Not going to say where). I have bought several cars out of state so I know the process. We negotiated a price and I was about to do the deal when the salesman, just shortly ago, emailed me (not call me) saying that his manager told him the car will be a higher amount (even higher than their online price). And you wonder why car sales people get the reputation they have!!!! This was the old bate and switch. Did not expect it from this dealer though. But I like righting reviews and needless to say I will be giving a review this company deserves. Just wasted the past 2 and a half days dealing with them.

Just for reference, I recently traded in my 2009 SV with tech, spoiler, and cold weather package. It had 82110 miles on it. Other than replacing a rocking seat, I had no problems with it. I just did regular oil changes (synthetic) and regularly scheduled maintenance.

The dealer has it listed on their site for $15,995. Of course, they also have it listed as a Premium, not a regular SV.

best bet is to pick out several at a good price and when you start talking to dealerships let them know very clearly up front you are looking at other vehicles at other dealerships. if they start ****ing you around on price or features or whatever just walk. ive had a sales guy literally RUN after my car when i was driving away and offer me thousands less than what he was just insisting was the lowest they could go a few minutes earlier. i still left

LOL I knew it... Smh I knew.. damn sleeze bagz! I know them prices man... I'm probably the cheapest guy on this entire website.. I waited out a dealer almost an entire month to get my max for 18,500... Could I have went lower?...ahh maybe, but after calling every damn dealer on the east coast .. that's the best I could do + it was valued at higher then I paid for it on KBB... So I felt pretty darn good about myself...so they didn't get sqwaut on MSRP... U want the best deal .. find a max sitting on a Mercedes or Audi lot.. they more likely to get that POS off their lot then others....

Don't deal with sleez bag mikeys used cars no more... They are all snakes... "Let me go talk to the manager and see what I can do...".. or " let me crunch the numbers to see what's the best price I can give .. can u give me a number I can call u back onu" all lies..them folks ain't about nothing

Whatever they tell u is higher then there best... U gotta find someone desperate willing to bite at your low ball offer if not screw emm... U got the power they don't.. talk sh*t

I bought my 09 SV w/sport pkg back in December with 42k miles for $22,700 from the dealership I work at. I haven't had any issues with it. I did buy extended warranty just incase though. We have a 09 Maxima SV on one our lots now. Here is this link if you would like to take a look. http://www.sewell.com/web/iui/

I'm not a car salesman, I'm in a different department. I just see that inventory that comes and goes. An old couple traded it in on a new Lexus. I know at one point they were asking like 24k for it and it has gradually went down on price.
