6spd in a 7gen...

This is one of those things where if you have to ask, don't do it.
Ever notice how the people that ask these types of questions end up never going through with it? And that the pioneers of such thing do it, mess up, and then start a thread to help solve the problems....
To throw the OP a bone look up the L32 Altima.
Edit:
You also asked this in the 7th gen section....
I need not to go further.

This guy swapped a 7th gen engine in his 5th gen and he used a 6spd tranny along with it. So im guessing its possible...

Hopefully someone (with money and time) will come along who is brave/bold enough to try it and share it with the forum.

nobody has done this yet. Darren Suratt swapped our motor into the 5th gen, but with that you have the power and none of the looks. a guy in NY was gathering parts to do the manual swap but gave up at some point and sold his car. im sure its possible, question is how expensive is it to do and is that worth it when you probably could have just picked up a manual Z or G37 for less than the Maxima + doing the trans swap

Only downside to today's maxima is it's missing a manual. Nissan needs to realize what got them to where they are and they would realize they need to sell a manual as an option. Someone start a petition...

For the record(for the third time)- I was asking if anyone had done this...
I know how offensive reading and working on your own car can be in the 7th gen forums, but I was curious if an enthusiast tried to fix the main issue in a 7th gen(a manual option or a proper Automatic).

Also be aware that, should you make this change, the manual tranny may be more fun to drive, but will not improve either the acceleration or fuel efficiency. We essentially have 'gears' with the paddle shifters, but elapsed times and fuel ecciciency are not as good when we use the paddles.
We should be aware that, when all else is equal, a tranny that does not shift will have better acceleration and better fuel economy than a tranny that shifts.
Of course there are other factors involved. Such as the damping effect Nissan has on the power going to the CVT when starting from standstill. But then that is offset by the way this CVT accelerates from 35 MPH to 80 MPH in mere seconds, with no tranny shifts involved.
