What to get checked out before you hit the 36k/end of warranty date?
Just wondering if there are some things you guys could suggest that I might want to get checked out before I hit the dreaded 36k/endofwarranty date. I have around 30k on my car right now and want to make sure I get everything checked while it is still under warranty. Honestly, i haven't had any problems with the car, except that I had to get my battery replaced, but want to make sure that I get the most out of my warranty. Thoughts/Advice appreciated!
second that ... err third.
My brother (2009 S) said 30k maintenance is big bucks, cost him almost a grand. I tried to get the dealership to do it on my 2010 before I took possession but since it only had 23k miles they said it was way too soon. I think they just want the money.
This is what the maintenance (not premium) schedule says:
Replace engine oil and filter
Replace engine air filter
Replace in-cabin microfilter 2
Rotate tires (except all 370Z)
Inspect the following:
__ Automatic transmission fluid 3,5
__ eCVT fluid (HEV) 3,4
__ Axle & suspension parts
__ Brake lines & cables
__ Brake pads, rotors, drums &
linings
__ Cruise control vacuum hoses
__ CVT fluid (cube, Murano, Altima,
Altima Coupe, Maxima,
Rogue, Sentra and Versa)
__ Differential oil 1,3
__ Drive shaft boots
__ Exhaust system
__ Front suspension ball joints
__ Fuel lines/connections
__ Fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
__ Manual transmission oil 3
__ Propeller shaft (4WD/AWD/RWD)
__ Steering gear and linkage
__ Steering linkage ball joints
__ Transfer case oil (4WD/AWD) 3

When I bought the car they tried to sell me an ESC for about $1800, which I promptly told them "Thanks, but no thanks."
I believe that most of the stuff that is serviced under the 30k warranty are deemed "consumables" and are not covered under the warranty anyways. I could be wrong about this, maybe someone could correct me if I am.
WRT warranties ... if you shop around you can find ESC's (with comparable covg) for less than a grand. Warranties are always tricky business anyways because you have to be meticulous about maintenance, schedule wise and documentation. Miss an oil change by a few miles over the 500 mile grace
--> S.O.L.
I am very close to 36K- did not get an extended warranty and have had NO problems except for replacing the battery which i was reimbursed for by Nissan. I did the 30K service in September.. so i am keeping my fingers crossed....
how far do ya'll go between oil changes?

On our 2007 SE we never followed the recommended schedule. Just changed the synthetic oil & filter every 5K, air filter every 12K, cabin filter every 24K. Worked perfectly for 91K miles.
Same schedule on the 2012 SV which now has 22K miles.
Suggest you save your $1,000. and take a pass on the factory recommended schedule.
Good luck.
To pay the dealer $1,000. to change the oil and a few filters is way out of line. All the other items are "inspect", many of which you can do yourself. If they need to be fixed, the parts and labor are always extra.

My brother paid almost a grand because some of the 'inspected' items needed to be fixed/replaced. And as you correctly stated, parts and labor on wear and tear items will cost extra.
The OP asked for things to get checked out before the factory warranty expired. He's got 30k on the car and since your average car owner isn't going to do these things themselves ... it makes sense to bring it in and have Nissan take a look.
For someone who does not look at or touch anything on their car in 30-60k and takes it in and pays $1000, the dealer is doing a service by making sure everything on that neglected car is up to par and will not cause hard to other car owners, who take the time to check and keep up on their own cars.
1000 may look like a lot but little things add up.

If wonders what should be checking out before warranty runs out, your car is likely has no obvious problems. There is not much you can do except I would get a high power flashlight and look really carefully to see if there are any fluid, coolant or oil leak from anywhere at all. It there is any, this is the good time to get it fix.
7000km to 8000km is what I do. My max is a 09 has almost 29,000km = 18019.8miles
loli bought it with 13,600km back in june of this year.
