2012 Nissan Maxima Audio Questions

So I just got a used 2012 Nissan Maxima this week with 23,000 from a dealer and I am beginning to think I got something that I need to return. I noticed while wiring up an amp and sub today that, from the looks of it, the original wiring for the climate controlled seats failed and somebody ran new wires to the fuse box under the steering wheel to each side. They just stuck a power wire under 2 separate fuses. one for each front seat. Then while trying to finish the wiring in the rear of the car, I notice more added wires running from inside the trunk through the grommet into the actual trunk heading to the license plate area. To top it off, the two speakers in the rear deck dont even work. I would have never known had I not tried to get audio from there for my line out convertor. I have looked at all three audio fuses under the hood and the audio fuse inside the cabin and all are good, but I'm not getting any signal to the rear deck. Should those speaker work on the models without Bose? I'm pretty sure I just have the standard deck with the orange mono colored display screens.

Can somebody please give me ideas on how to fix the rear speakers. I don't want to pull all my already installed wiring so that I can take it to the dealer if I dont have to.Thanks.

Which model do you have? It sounds like you have the S model (non bose) but climate controlled seats could be an SV feature (non bose). My guess is that the heated seats and the spoiler were installed either by the dealer or a former owner. Others might be able to help you with the wiring for the non Bose.

Do the side view mirrors have turn signals lights in the front of them? Cuz I think that means its an S.

If you do NOT have turn signal lights on the outer ends of the outside rear view mirrors, you absolutely have an 'S'.

If you DO have turn signal lights on the outer end of the outside rear view mirrors you have either an 'SV' or an 'S' with the Limited Edition Package or an 'S' on which someone has replaced the 'S' mirrors with 'SV' mirrors, which would have required wiring changes.

I'm sure it was one of your previous posts where I learned that anyway.

Well bbrownderville, it is definitely a little strange to have an S model that someone has swapped seats on and messed with the wiring. I'd be a little uneasy, but, hopefully in the end the changes that the previous owner made are upgrades that you're happy about. I wish I could be more help with telling you what may be happening with the wiring, but I'm not your guy for that. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about your issues can give you good answers.

You definitely have an 'S'.

All '12 Maximas have front fogs except the base 'S'. Even the 'S' can have fogs if it includes the Limited Edition Package, or if someone has taken the time to install them later.

As info, every variation of the '12 Maxima has the regular moonroof except the 'SV' with Premium Package.

The navigation system comes only as part of a Tech Package. There are three separate Tech Packages; one for the 'SV', one for the 'SV' with Sport Package, and one for the 'SV' with Premium Package.

You have a fresh canvas to work with. Welcome to the forum! Google 2012 maxima speaker wiring diagram, and you will get the color code and the speaker location. There has to be a more detailed schematic out there... Sorry i couldn't find it

Wish I could help you with the wiring. I am certified and liscened to install/modify residential wiring, but auto wiring is not only more complex, but can be very difficult to even get to. I have never been fond of poking my head under a dash, just so I can accumulate dust, dirt, metal shavings, etc in my eyes and get little annoying cuts on every finger of both hands.

I'm pretty decent at working on autos. My dad owns a mechanic/ body shop. I was in high end audio competing for a few years as well. Im no expert though either. Im thinking either the rear amp is dead or the radio is partially bad. The speakers in front and rear doors work. Im prolly going to pull the amp wires out and make an appointment for the dealer to fix it. I was hoping it would be something quick and simple that i was missing.

Just found out today my 2012 Maxima's rear deck speakers don't work either. I got my car brand new from the dealer. Not a big deal since I added subs today, but man that is annoying to find out.
