Talking Problem Child Maxima Finally Gone!

I'm not going to over exaggerate but my Maxima had a lot of problems. Mostly nothing major, just headaches with the seat, battery, electrical, brakes, and probably more I can't think of right now that I had worked on in the many service visits.

I pulled the trigger on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland! (For those that don't know Jeep it's a fully loaded model) It has everything the Maxima had as far as toys (heated/ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, heated steering, navigation, etc...) Oh and It's got a Hemi! 5.7L V8 w/ 365hp!

Whenever I get rid of a vehicle I feel sad...almost like losing a friend because I love my cars and spend a lot of time driving them. With the Maxima I just coasted her into the dealership on fumes and didn't think twice about it. I really used to love the car until the problems started and continued.

Oh well - bon voyage fellow Maxima owners. Maybe I'll be back in 3-years after my next lease is up if Nissan does something right with the car.

Last picture of the Maxima - I at lease cleaned her up real nice before turning her in.

Nice Cherokee. I had the 5.7 Hemi in my Charger and had no issues out of it in 6 years. Had that lady not hit me, I'd still be driving her. Hope you enjoy the Cherokee!

I just got rid of mine last week. Ever since it was in a front end collision, I never felt the same about it.

Too bad about the problems, but cars aren't perfect. Too bad that you had more than your fair share of problems. Congrats on the Jeep! Love the look of those things, I'm sure it feels pretty nice to drive too. My wife has an SUV and wants to stick with that size of vehicle when she next upgrades. I think we'll be looking into the grand Cherokee. I like the hemi, if I hadn't bought my maxima I would have bought a new charger with the hemi. Very very close to having done that.

Sweet Jeep. My wife has an '04. She's due in another year or two. Most likely another Jeep or Lexus SUV.

I would still take the Maxima over that Jeep anyday! Every car has problems..some minor, some major, hell - maybe both!

Maybe you are using 'reverse MOJO', and your luck will change. You had bad luck with your Maxima, a vehicle which Consumer Reports has found to be fairly reliable, so maybe you will have good luck with your V8 Grand Cherokee Overland, a much more expensive vehicle than the Maxima, and one which Consumer Reports has found to be somewhat less reliable than the Maxima.

If you do any off-roading, the Jeep is a vast improvement over the Maxima. If you like to ride a little higher off the pavement, the Jeep clearly has that advantage over the Maxima. If you like a little more weight on your side in case of collisions, the Jeep beats the Maxima there also. I guess the major downside of the Jeep might be the overall MPG rating of 14 for the 8 cylinder engine you have.

Good luck with your Overland, and drop by occasionally and let us know how things are going.
