the most common question...

What mod would anyone recommend next?

I have 16k miles (still under warranty)
·Hid's, custom led interior,K&N filter, tint, and I just did my headlights (thanks to Ghozt's write up)

I might do an exhaust but I really want to keep my warranty.

you can do an exhaust without voiding the warranty. it just voids the warranty on specifically the exhaust. as long as the shop installs it right you won't have any issues, it's a fairly common bolt-on

Why wouldn't you be able to keep your warranty if you put an aftermarket exhaust on?

the last maxima I had was under warranty and when I install the full catback exhaust the o2 sensor messed up and so they couldn't void the warranty but now that make sense to me

Ghozt what exhaust do you have? That AAM exhaust sounds amazing but I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money for an exhaust

The point is that installing an aftermarket exhaust system is only going to void those components.

Most of the things that go wrong with the exhaust are not covered under warranty anyways. They are deemed consumables or some such ...

Besides ... you've already voided (part of) the warranty on your headlights and interior lights.

Either way ... I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like Ghozt said, installing aftermarket exhaust components is pretty routine.

The AAM exhaust is worth it, I can attest. List price for a Borla is not too far off from AAM.

Get it and you'll be smiling every time you hit the throttle.

yeah I wanna get intake but a true cold air intake not a short air. I've had those on all my Maximas and the sound is just amazing. Which intake do you have?

Everyone is going to tell you there is no true cold air intake for Gen 7's. You'll have to custom build one.

I picked up a Borla cause another member was parting out, but I'm shortly going to have the resonator swapped out (at GMTraitor35's recommendation) for a dynomax bullet res to make it a little louder. The AAM is HANDS DOWN the best sounding exhaust I've heard not just on a Maxima but a VQ35 period. Nobody has been disappointed

Yeah true cold air doesn't exist, only me and one other guy have taken the time to relocate the battery to the trunk and build one. I built it off a Takeda short ram with custom piping and had it all ceramic coated. I personally love it but it was mostly a "can I do it" project considering the time involved just to get an intake in there haha.

Does the borla make as much power as the aam?

Since AAM is bigger I'm gonna lean towards AAM having worse low end response but much better high end response. When you open up the pipe that large you lose some back pressure that helps create power on the low end. But most people aren't putting on a 3" inch to go faster from 10-40 haha. Nobody knows what the Borla's gains are cause nobody has dyno'd before/after that I know of.

I'm definitely going to try what the Orange Maxima said in regards to finding a 1:1 gear ratio that holds steady. We tried everything at the last dyno but I have a very skilled Nissan/Infiniti (Frank Hills of Hills Garage) tuner doing the dyno tune so maybe we'll get to see some good numbers.

So your telling me for the price..to get an exhaust is 90% for sound unless you get a Y pipe and exhaust for some true hp gains.
Damn you cvt! Lol actually I love it and so does my wallet

well with most bolt-ons you'll feel maybe a slight bump in gains but until you get a tune your cars ECU will be fighting against you keeping the A/F ratio around 13.7-13.9

Get the eiback pro kit and racingline rear sway bar (rsb). I just had them done yesterday and I am amazed at the difference they've made. I've got an sv non-sport, so that floaty boat feeling I had is now completely gone and I can rip around corners without body roll. IMO, Nissan should have made the car handle like this from the start. FYI, it also dropped my car 1.5" all around so it looks much better with the stock 18's too. Thought I might have an issue bottoming out on the speed jumps here in Florida, but even with four fat boys in the car, no such luck. I am happy as a dirty pig in SH*T! Oh, I did the R2C intake as my first mod and could not be happier. It is decently loud but sounds sooooo sexy (according to 3 different people who heard it in my car and all said the same thing), not to mention it really opens up the air flow and lets the VQ breathe.
