Remote start.....

I did some searches and found previous threads on this, but it seems it has not been brought up in some time and with todays pace in regards to technology a lot can change in that time.

I want a remote starter kit that allows me to use the OEM smart key to start it. I've found the following and wonder if anyone has any experience installing these themselves, how well they integrate and the reliability. Range is not an issue for me as the two places I will use it most are easily reached by the OEM remote.

Found this one on Ebay, haven't see anyone talk about it. It looks like I'll need the bypass for it.

Also found this in one of the threads.

I would like something like this, however I have no knowledge on it and would like input on it from anyone who isn't a novice on the subject.

Honestly, I had the Viper Smart Start system installed over the winter. it's a bit pricey, but having remote start, unlock, arm, etc.... ANYWHERE that I have a phone connection is awesome! I can literally be in the mall, and have my car warm up or cool off. It's about 400 installed at your local best buy and I think like 50 or 80 a year, but it's an awesome starter.

I'd go with Viper, the OEM keyfob doesn't have that great of a range so it's not super useful being able to remotely start your car when you're 30 feet from it

As an installer and someone that did my own Max. Don't even think about installing it yourself if you have forum about the install. Pay to get it done.

On that note the newer update modules for viper alarms allows you to remote start the max by using the OE remote (lock 3x) now.

I will be putting the Viper 4203v into wife's car this weekend. It's a 1 button remote start only. I also wanted to use the factory remote it I wanted more range. I'm using this model because it has around 2000 ft rage and its a small remote that makes and audible noise and lights green to let you know the car received the signal and is going to start. Good luck in your decision

Do you have this on your Max now or do you mainly use the SmartStart?

I use SmartStart. I haven't updated the module yet. It requires me to rewire a few things after the update. Plus my car is in an underground parking garage at my house so the remotes including the viper remote don't reach, but my SmartStart does.

I got the Audiovox Car Link in my Altima while I still had it, haven't yet installed it in my altima but that thing was a huge convenience being able to start it from anywhere 3G signal is available...no remote range to worry about
