Its a bit hard to hear over your voice but I had a winding noise in both my Altima v6 and Maxima around 30-40k right before I flushed the CVT fluid. When the fluid gets old, the CVT (when warm) likes to whine and can get pretty loud. You will see an immediate change after the fluid is clean.

But if driving in unusual conditions, such as very hot or very cold or very dusty conditions, pulling a trailer, etc, or driving aggressively (such things as fairly frequent accelleration to 5K RPMs, etc), then changing at 30K miles would be desirable.
Nissan service techs have the ability to check the CVT fluid with instrumentation that tells them its exact condition. If I were you, I would have this done. If the fluid checks as normal, then something else may be afoot, and we would want to know that.

The recommendation from Nissan in the 'normal' maintenance regime is for the service tech to CHECK the CVT fluid condition at 60K miles, and replace IF NEEDED. In the 'premium' maintenance regime, the check would be at 30k miles.

Any update on this noise? I noticed the same thing in my 2013 today at lunch. I'm confused.... hoping it's something easy. Additonally, I suspect it may be a belt, as I only have 3,300 miles on mine (doubtful the CVT fluid is bad) and after I leave it sit for a few days, I get a slight squeal when I start it up in the morning.

FYI, my car was actually in today for it's first oil change and the dealership just called and said the whine is "normal"... and nothing to be concerned with. Time will tell... I guess for now I will simply keep my ear peeled for it. I'm at 3,300 miles, so I can't imagine for my car it would be related to dirty or spent CVT fluid that is for sure.
