New Clockspring (Spiral Cable)

Last week I noticed my steering wheel was making some plastic rubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel to the 10 and 2 o'clock position. I took it to the dealership and they determined it needs a new clock spring. Luckily it's covered under the powertrain warranty.

Any of you members had the same problem? I've owned 7 different cars in my lifetime and not once did any of them had the same problem.

I replaced a clockspring once on a VW Passat. The issue there was Air bag light was on. Another potential issue is if the steering wheel buttons don't work properly. I actually have a little P/S whine with my steering wheel.

Did you have any actual problems, other than noise?

No other problems. Just the rubbing noise of plastic in the steering wheel.
