AAM Titanium Exhaust tips change colour ?

Hey Guys,

For those who got the AAM exhaust with the Titanium tips, have you experienced this color change on the tips ? Just odd how it changed colour like that. I did take it into a shop last week to get a full detail with the paint also they clayed the car, wax etc etc. I took it back to the shop and they claim that nothing that they used would do that type of damage. Any Auto Deatailers out there know if any type of acid or paint cleaning products will do damage to this?

I will email Khoi and see what he has to say.

Heat causes titanium tips to turn color.

Mine is doing this too a little on the inner part of the burnt tip. Apparently it's not a real burnt tip but like a coloring. AAM advised people to wash the tips only with soap/water and only sparingly - if you used any kind of exhaust polish (which has abrasives in it) you're basically polishing that burnt finish off.

Also, Khoi no longer works at AAM he switched to a different job.

Thanks for the information Ghozt. I figured that these tips were not true burnt in tips, with them turning that colour, and I'm sure they are not "Titanium" lol .

I've never used any sort of polish on them, never had the need to, It's a little bit of an disappointment that has happen. I wish I knew this before taking my car in to get a full detail, otherwise I would have told them. I guess I have to look for some new tips, any leads on where I can get something that is true to the word of the manufacture ?

Why do you believe the manufacturer sold you anything but what was advertized. Titanium will turn color if heated. Different heat ranges wil produce a different colors. Electricity will also change the color of titanium, its called anodizing. To find out more about this subject just google titanium color changes.

Didn't I laugh at the end of that comment ? So I assume people thought I was joking around. I'm not *****ing about AAM product, just wanted to see if anyone other guys out there that got the same tips as me are having the same issues.

The tips themselves clamp on so you can swap to different tips if you want
