Nissan Security Plus
Nissan Security Plus
Anyone have experience with the Nissan Security Plus extended warranty?
My mechanic recomended I get an extended warranty for my 2010 Maxima. I drive a lot and I usually keep my cars until they're pretty much done.
This car is a CPO and has the 7 Year/100,000 mile Powertrain warranty.
I'm thinking about the 72 month 80,000 mile plan. Probably going to buy it from Santa Rosa Nissan. My local dealer and the dealer I bought the car from quoted me a price almost $1500 higher then Santa Rosa...
Anyone purchase a plan from them?

I purchased the 7/100 plan for both my Maxima and my Murano. So far on my Max I have had the drivers seat motor and the steering wheel tilt motor replaced under the plan with no problems. The steering wheel telescopic motor just went out and I forsee no problems getting it replaced as well.
But the lumbar support also failed and it was denied, claiming the seat is not covered and the lumbar support is part of the seat. I have a claim in with Nissan and should hear from them some time next week. Fingers crossed.
Update, 10/29/13. Was contacted by Nissan and was told to go see the service manager. He said the best they could do would be to split the cost with me 50/50. With that split my portion would probably be around $1,000. The lumber support is not that important. Even though it sounds like something in the pump failed they are saying it is a soft item therefore not covered.

I got that same plan, haven't needed it yet but I like the piece of mind. I got it from Santa Rosa because it was the best price that I could find. They are easy to do business with but if you have questions they didn't seem knowledgable and always had to find someone else that would know and get back with you. I would recommend them.

Yes, I took it to a Nissan dealership and told them why I needed it and they did the inspection and charged me $250 for it
It sucked because the car had 4 months until the end of the original warranty and had the 7/100 CPO warranty....

CPO only extends the powertrain. Security plus would be close to bumper to bumper.
How long you can extend it depends on whether you're still under the original warranty. If you're still under original warranty, then I think it's like up to 7 or 8 years from the original in service date. If you're not under warranty, your coverage starts on the purchase date of the warranty.
And yes they will require an inspection form. If you recently bought the car, I would think your cpo inspection form would suffice.

The maximum sec plus warranty is 8 year /120K miles

Are you sure that's the Gold preferred, I thought that was the quality guard warranty
QualityGuard+Plus®
Extended Protection Plans
Designed for most new and pre-owned vehicles other than Nissan. Offers mechanical protection for the most critical vehicle components for up to 7 years and 100,000 miles from the time you purchase your plan. Nationwide repairs.
Security+Plus®
Extended Protection Plans
The best mechanical protection for your Nissan. Security+Plus Extended Protection Plans are backed by Nissan. Factory-trained technicians will repair your new or pre-owned Nissan. Nationwide coverage, three plans to choose from, and coverage up to eight years and 120,000 miles.
Actually I do see where you found that Gold Warranty at Nissan of Santa Barbara but it says the time starts when the car was first purchased and the mileage is added to the current reading
With the exception of not offering a zero deductible and covering Audio the Quality Guard plus appears to be the same warranty as the Gold Preferred

I don't know how to get an image to post in my reply but here is the image of what I signed up for. It is the pre owned vehicle service plan and it says that time begins on the purchase date and mileage is added to current odometer. Santa Rosa is the only dealership I spoke with to make this available to me, other dealerships didn't know what I was talking about. It was pricy but I think it's worth it since I don't know how the car was taken care of by the previous owner.

What's the deductible ?
How much did it cost ?
What year and how many miles are on the car ?
Just make sure that's not ORIGINAL purchase date
Good Luck, check for the engine knock so many are experiencing.

I was nervous about weather or not the plan would start on the original purchase date with zero miles so when I got the plan I went to my dealership here and got a printout of the maintenance records from the service department and it had my CPO warranty with start and stop date and mileage and the extended service plan with the same info, so it's good to go. Pricey but I'm ok with it.
That's what annoyed me about Santa Rosa, they couldn't tell me for sure about when the service plan would actually start and stop.... I had to go by the application only.
I paid 1669, I chose the $100 deductible ($0 was the other choice), I got a 2010 Maxima SV and it had 22454 miles on it. I got it in April 2013.

How much more was the zero deductible as I had a 8/100K given to me by Nissan but mine is from my in service date of March 2013
Have you checked for the bearing issue ? If so please vote in the poll
Good Luck

I had the wheel bearings check at the dealer when I heard a suspicious noise and it turned out my cotter pins were lose. They said the bearings were fine...... Hopefully that was the truth. So far so good though.
Yes, my plan expires on 4/15/19 or when I reach 102454 miles. I can't remember what the cost for the 0 deductible plan was, I think it was close to 2G.

45% of the 37 people who voted in our poll have this issue so it appears to be widespread

This is a bearing in the motor, that's why I got the free Gold Preferred warranty, at 3800 miles my short block was replaced. 45% of the 37 people who voted in our poll have this issue so it appears to be widespread http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...-problems.html
You won't feel anything and it's very hard to hear from inside the car, diagnose it yourself as some dealers are telling people it's fine as it's a major job
Take your car for 15 minute ride, park it in a garage and let idle IN PARK. Listen for a knock , there is a video of it in the thread I linked prior
I would have never found mine as I rarely idle IN PARK, I forgot something at the house and ran back, left the car running and ran inside
I recieved a quote from Santa Rosa of $2300 for a $0 deductable 72 month 80,000 mile Security Plus Gold Prefered VSC. It's a bumper to bumper plan that starts the day the warranty is purchased. Not the in service date of the vehicle.
The dealer I bought the car from quoted me $3800 for the same plan.
Right now the car is covered under the CPO 7/100 powertrain warranty so I'm not in a rush. I have a few other aveneus to persue to purchase the warranty...

Here is Canada, it is called Nissan ASP ( Added Security Plan), earlier in the year I purchased the Platinum ASP 36m/100,000km plan on my 09 maxima at the time it had 38,083km's. When I purchased the car in July 12 it has 13,600km's on it. The factory warranty ran out in August of this year.
Their Platinum plan they have is pretty much bumper to bumper but when I was reading the actual warranty booklet (fine print), it theory it does not cover everything. They use this term loosely " Normal Wear and tear" at the dealerships I went to find out more information. For example my driver seat is starting to rock back and forth a little. I figure it will be covered under the warranty plan, but I found in the booklet stating that what is not covered such as but not limited to airbag systems, Antenna (manual/power), axle boots, bulbs, clutch release bearing, clutch lining, and cover, complete exhaust systems, coolant or oil cap, coolant drain plug, dust covers, fuses, harnesses, hoses, SEAT FRAMES, shocks and struts, steering wheel trim and stoppers ( steering and suspension). It is widely reported that seat frames are the key issue with the 09 and up maxima's.
I will still take my car in and see how things go. I need to find the TSB on a few things, as i started to notice it is sluggish acceleration from a stop etc etc.
I kick myself a little now, as I should have went brand new, but when I saw this car I completely fell in love with it. lol..

You have to have a full inspection first, then they sell the warranty

First of all cater pins loose ? They can't be loose there either secure and on or off . But that's a good one maybe the dealer will tell you your head light fluid is low next or your muffler bearings are shot ? Lmao😝

Yeah, It's odd but that's what they said and my noise is gone........ I'm not sure why they would be causing the noise. My car has been great ever since. Hopefully it stays that way
