09 sunroof problem

Just bought a real nice 09 Maxima and when I go to open the sunroof it will only open about 2 inches at a time. If you continue to press the button it will open all the way after 10 or so pushes. Same as to close it. Any ideas???? Thanks

Sounds like it needs a reset, I use to have to do this with my 04 maxima...honestly can't remember how it was done though

If you just bought it then you should take it to the dealer to fix. They must have offered a 30-60 day warranty. There could be more at play here than a reset, ie: bad motor. Is the roof still watertight? I would be interested in the outcome as I have a 09.

This is for the 6th gen maxima but is imagine it'll work, good luck

INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to
normal.
1. Push the tilt up switch and start the tilt up operation.
2. Release the tilt up switch once, press the tilt up switch again, keep pushing the switch until lid pops up.
3. The glass lid will more toward tilt up direction and will be stopped mechanically, and then it will be automatically
fully closed. (keep pushing the switch during this operation)
4. Release the switch again, and push the tilt up switch within the first 10 seconds. (keep pushing the switch)
5. After 4 seconds, the glass lid will be automatically operated in sequence of tilt down, slide open and slide
close.
6. After the glass lid stops, release the switch 0.5 second later. (keep pushing the switch during this operation)
7. If slide switch operates normally, this initialization is done.

This isn't on topic but related. My pano roof squeaks when opening and closing. What can I use to stop the squeak?

This won't be much help to u if you aren't going the dealer any time soon , but on my last car I had the same problem brought it in..the dealer put some type of yellow grease on it and it solved the problem. No charge either
