Just bought a Maxima 2011 today and have a question.

Hey...
I just bought a Maxima SV 2011 today. I have a few questions to someone who has been driving one of these for a awhile.
Mine has the sports package which I presume makes the ride a little firmer.
My question is are these cars suppose to be a bit noisy like a sports car? I hear some people on these threads say their car is quiet and luxurious while mine feels firmer and I can hear the engine rev and the exhaust rumble, is this how it should be?
Also, I noticed that when driving at about 30 mph if the RPMs go low, maybe about 1,200 the engine seems to run a little rougher but as soon as I step on the gas and get the engine up to 2,000 RPMs it smooths out. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks.

Yes...I bought the car from a one owner/ lease. Has 32K miles on it. I'm not saying it's loud like when kids add those crazy tailpipes that buzz, I'm just saying it sounds like a stock mustang or something, kind of a growls. I test drove a Caddy CTS and that was really quiet.

I'm not sure about your exhaust note but at around 1200rpm, what you hear is the CVT lugging noise and as soon as it goes over around 1500rpm, you don't hear it anymore.

Ya it's normal...rpm and exhaust, I love the little growl the factory exhaust has. Also these cars have a sound generator which creates added engine noise in the cabin. Search sound generator here and you'll learn about it. Some people here don't like it, I'm one that does. There have been people here who have removed it as we'll to quiet things down

It is basically a tube that allows some sound in from the engine bay...

Sports Pkg

Keep in mind, the Sports Package comes with that stiffer suspension you noted and the 19" tires and wheel. That means less tire between the road and the rim because the overall tire height is the same as the 18". So, what you get is stiffer ride. Now, if you want to feel good about it, hit an expressway cloverleaf at 75 miles per hour and see how your Max will glide around the curve, hang on though. this car really corners. just sayin

Yes it is completely normal for the car to behave the way you have mentioned.

Tbh my car isnt that loud with all the windows closed and even without mufflers at a cruising speed it is quite nice. Now when i get on it... thats when the fun begins.
