Getting Spoiler Installed

O.k. so I'm getting my spoiler installed by the stealership soon and i was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the 3rd brake light from the back window? Should i do it myself or should i just tell the dealership to do it when they install the spoiler.

You should be able to just take a small screwdriver and pry along the sides a bit and it should just pop up without too much trouble.

But just remember, unless they have some of those 3rd brake light delete plates lying around you'll have a hole where the 3rd brake light was. Personally after I installed my spoiler I left the 3rd brake light there and disconnected it.

I left my 3rd light in place and connected. I think it looks awesome to have the extra lights on at night. I tried it with and without the 3rd light and the consensus of those observing the install was to leave it on! YMMV.

Don't know what ymmv means, but, gotta completely disagree with the post above. Just my opinion, but, if you're adding the spoiler you GOTTA d/c the interior brake light. Don't need 4 brake lights.

The blank plate was kinda hard to find, but I ended up ordering one from some random dealership in TX who happened to have it. Search these forums and you'll find the part # for it. Even if you don't have it though, just pop the brake light out, disconnect the wire, then pop the light back in the same place. That way you're not leaving a gaping hole.

YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary, or your result may be different from mine).

And yes, the 4 brake lights is a bit overkill an looks odd since it kinda implies that the spoiler was added on after the car was purchased. I try to make it look like it was installed when the car was manufactured so it looks like I spent more money on it lol.

And as far as the brake plate goes, I think pretty much only some dealerships sell them, I've never seen them online. You can also try to find the carpet for the rear deck lid that doesn't include the hole.

If you are getting this job done at the dealership I would imagine that removing the 3rd brake light is part of the job... Just confirm with them that they are removing it, dont ask for them to remove it..

A fourth brake light is a little unnecessary... I'd stick with three and have the dealership do all the work ( removing the extra one )

I bought the factory spoiler and installed it myself. Since the install instructions tell you to tap in at the 3rd brake light, it's a piece of cake to either leave the 3rd light in the circuit or cut it out. This is a pretty easy do it yourself job. The factory spoiler was so correctly shaped that getting it to set on the car perfectly flush and professionally aligned was an easy chore.
