Driver Side Door Issue

Hey everyone i have a 09 maxima with 48k and starting 2 weeks ago i randomly have a problem with my driver side door. When i go to unlock the car with the remote or door button, my driver side door will not open! All my other doors open fine, and if i go in the car and unlock the driver side door it still wont open. And the lock is unlocked according to the handle lock. When i go to open it from the outside the door handle pulls real flimsy as opposed to when it opens normally and u feel the tension/click when u pull the handle and the door opens. It almost seems as if something isnt grabbing or connecting. Then if i wait a few hours it will open normally!!! Has anyone had a similar issue or know the cause? Can something be frozen (i do live in chicago) or shorting out or stuck? When i listen to the driver side door and hit the unlock button you hear the lock but its making a whining/squeaking noise. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Sounds like a cable that connects to handle is faulty. Might need replacing.

its really wierd because it randomly does it, and the only way to get in is through the passenger door and climb over which is really annoying.

Try replacing the power door lock actuator or maybe one of the rods have come loose. If your drivers side door isn't locking or unlocking at all with the button or remote i'd bank on the actuator being no good.

i hear a noise that sounds like its unlocking and when im in the passenger seat and unlock the doors the actual little lock/unlock indicator under the handle changes, but the door wont actually open, even though the indicator shows its unlocked.

Try changing out your key remote battery. I had the whole intermittent issue along with all the other doors working fine. I didn't think it was the battery because all the other locks were working fine but it ended up being the battery.

Yes because you still need the remote within range to use the door handle button.

This is almost certainly a mechanical or actuator problem within the driver's door. A poster on this board had the same problem a week or two ago, and his 'auto customizing' friend took the interior door upholstery off, cleaned and lubricated the parts involved with the mechanical portion of the lock, reassembled them, and the problem disappeared. He was charged only $25 bucks.

In your case, you may find a part that is broken, which would have to be replaced. But if you have a reliable mechanic not working for your dealer, the price should not be too bad.

Gotcha now. Yes it's very likely a mechanical issue.
Since you didn't specify which button, I thought you were referring to the outside one which is the unlock button. The inside one will both lock and unlock the door.
