2014 maxima windshield creak
Just noticed when on a rough bumpy road I have a creak type of noise coming from left front bottom of windshield...Anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do to fix it
Windshield noise...
Has your windshield ever been changed?
Larry The Glass Guy
I could have sworn I heard some wind noise coming from the top of my windshield one time. Haven't heard it since. Weird. Then again Nissan didn't really give a shat about body lines or fitment. Really sad considering the price point.
Never had the windshield replaced and it's definitely not the dash board. I had a similar but worse problem in my 2012 G37x and I had the windshield replaced once after the service dept heard the noises. Unfortunately it never fixed the issue...Yes it's weird it's happening to me again in a different car....so I'm guessing maybe it does have something to do with the cowl.
I have a 2012 maxima 39,000 miles and my crack is right in the middle and spreading daily. My question is am I getting ripped off paying 800+ for my windshield? The insurance company (All state) said I have a 500 deductible? And the dealership does NOT do the install there?
I need some help if anyone has gone through this before?

If It is not being repaired under warranty I would not bother with the dealer. Just call some auto glass shops and ask for a quote. If they are in the same ballpark as far as pricing is concerned you know you are not getting ripped off. Make sure that they use the OEM glass.

Thank you for your input. A guy in Dallas said 250 plus mobile service? I haven't got confirmation that it's OEM yet. It's 800 just for Nissan oem at the dealership. How would you make the dealership replace it? Warranty wise
Dealer wont replace under warranty unless the glass was defective from factory. If youve got a JN Philips near you, they use OEM. Check your state laws. In Massachusetts, a crack that impairs the drivers view will be covered by insurance independent of supplemental insurance, provided youve got comprehensive coverage. Also, in MA, near Boston it should cost you just under $500 for parts (OEM) and install if you had to pay out of pocket. $800, is way over priced.
Edit. This was intended for GNC

I'm guessing you don't have glass but Allstate will pay after the regular $500 deductible for collision have ?
Full glass is very cheap,
I had the windshield replaced in my 2013 at 1500 miles as it was installed incorrectly from the factory and making noise. The dealer took care of it.
Glass is almost always ( I say almost but I have never heard otherwise) covered at 100% with no deductible or not at all.

How is it covered 100%? My insurance company just said I pay $500 and they will pay the rest but they didnt state or mention it will be covered for free (Regardless how the crack got their)
The advantage of full glass coverage is that unlike comprehensive insurance, it comes with no deductible.
So, let’s say your car gets broken in to over night and a window is smashed. Luckily nothing is stolen, but you’re still left with a broken window…and the estimate to repair it comes in at $600.
If you have comprehensive insurance but not auto glass coverage, you will have to pay your deductible before your auto insurance company picks up the rest of the tab. So if you have a $500 deductible, you’d have to pay $500, and your auto insurance company would pay the remaining $100 to cover the repair work.
But if you have full glass coverage, your auto insurance company will cover the expense of repairing the window in full with no out-of-pocket costs to you.

Dude. Do NOT pay more than $250 for glass, period. Was my windshield replacement in February OEM? Nope. Do I care? Nope. I understand there are differences between glass types, tempered, etc. but at the end of the day glass is glass is glass is glass.
Instead of the small font on the windshield that you never notice and barely read saying "NISSAN", mine says "PILKINGTON" or something like that. Small font. Tiny.
Also, believe me when I tell you that there have been probably 3 times or so since February with the replacement windshield where I've taken a good rock off of it while driving (that made the loud noise which grabs your attention when you hear it and makes you say, "WTF!") with no chips or cracks or any of that.
I was píssed off for having to pay $160 to get it done as my fiancée has had her windshield replaced twice within the past year or two at no out-of-pocket cost with Nationwide whereas I have Amica.
Again. Please tell me you're not gonna pay that. Do not file the claim with the $500 deductible nonsense (same situation with my insurance) and pick up the phone and make some calls. You can even ask your insurer which companies they use and start yourself off with a few of leads. Make your calls, get your quotes, read reviews on the glass companies of which you just called and then make your choice!! Bingo! Bango! 10 minutes, done and done, and you just saved yourself a bunch of money while not going 'cheap-o status' but not shelling out ridiculous money for glass that says "NISSAN" on it.
It sucks, I know, I had just been there.
My 2 cents.
Good luck.
