converting to HIDs

I have ordered H11 6000k bulbs with ballasts, but I am not sure whether I need a canceller or relay? I have the stock maxima with halogens

Thanks

don't drop HID in the halogen housings

Get projectors and do it right. Either 7th gen OEM projector headlights or retrofit the current ones.

I hope you got H11B bulbs or get ready for return wire shadow in your output.

But no, you don't need any cancellers. I do suggest a relay harness though.

Hmmm... all 7th gen Maximas come with projectors, either halogen or HID. Really the only difference between the outputs is how evenly the light is distributed; halogen is more focused towards the center at the cutoff, HID is wider and smoother light distribution.

Unfortunately I didn't get the xb h11s, and I haven't ordered the relay. Will I experience problems without it?

Also, after researching I've seen a lot of posts stating that a relay hardness isn't needed on a 35W kit, but it on a 55W.

Get the relay and do it right the first time. It would be different if we could just access our headlights from our engine bay but we can't. You'll regret not putting it in then having to either take off your bumper or jack the car up and take the front wheels off to redo your HIDs.

I second this. It simply depends on the amp current draw of your 55W ballasts. I got 55W OPT7 AC slim ballasts and haven't had any issues. Each halogen low bulb has a 15amp fuse protecting the wires. The ballasts I found won't exceed that amp draw even during the initial firing. I do notice a difference in my dad's HID stock projectors and my halogen projectors. Mine are a lot more focused toward the center while his are spread out. Still really good cutoff with the halogen projectors.

Thanks for the replies and advice. I didn't order the relay because I am getting a 35W. If I'm not satisfied, I'll end up getting a 55W with a relay.

I was honestly thinking about it just to be safe but it was one more thing I was going to have to wire and run and I just didn't feel like doing it. It's not a bad idea and can't hurt anything but I already have a good deal of things hooked up to my battery so it would be hard finding space.
