Nexus 7 with HVAC display

Hello all.

Okay, this might seem far fetch but I think it could be done. I'm trying to get my Nexus 7 to display my HVAC information. Yeah, yeah, yeah....

But hear me out. I have been doing some research and I really think it could be done. First, the Nexus 7 support OTG (On The Go). It allows the nexus 7 to act as an usb host. Which mean, it can communicate with other usb devices.

I'm going to use a microcontroller to communicate with the HVAC via USB so I getting it data.

This is the microcontroller that I might be getting: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/arduinoBoardUno

I'm a computer engineer and I think I can do it. What I need is the wiring diagram, circuit schematic and signal inputs/outputs of the HVAC.

If anyone knows where I can get that information from that will be great.

Thanks!

The wiring diagrams can be found here

I'm actually in the process of doing the same thing but using a different approach with the nexus 7's rear camera. What kind of HVAC display do you have? I really wanted to be able to do this...

however, the amber display on my S does not have RGB so its not possible. If you have the SV with the color display, you may want to read that forum as it pretty much walks you through how to do it. Good luck!

Lets hope your results aren't far away. an Interface for a standard monitor wouldn't be bad either.

It can be done..

Thanks for the info. I, unfortunately, have the amber display. So,I have to dig around a little more deeper.

Is there a place where I can get the icons for the a/c display? I looked everywhere but can't find any.

Thanks.

You might be able to cut/paste them from the owner's manual.
