H11 bulb return wire up
H11 bulb return wire up
Hey guys
I upgraded my headlights to sport racing hid kit, couldnt see much at night with stock one at night. Problem I am facing is that ground shadow my H11 bulb that came with kit is up and it should be down. How can i fix it ? Moddify bulb or buy another set that is right for our maxima?
Thanks

Thanks anyways
i tried modifying the h11 bulbs but it didn't work out for me. I cut away the thicker tab to match the size of the other two tabs but for some reason it still wouldn't fit in the housing.
Thank you
A direct competitor to Morimoto (TheRetrofitSource) is XenonDepot who claim to have the bulbs to counter the ground shadow issue. That may be something to look for as well, the Toyota Camry also has the issue with H11 ground shadows due to the projector design and many people on the Camry forums backup XenonDepot's claim. But also, the Morimoto XB35's from TRS have the same praise.
Do you have a photo? My Maxima came with HIDs and I can tell you if there is a ground shadow. I also noticed it when I first got my car, it looked as if the foreground lighting had vertical dark spots that span out towards the end of the lit ground. I've gotten used to it, and don't notice it anymore since I have my fog lights on anyway. The reason being is that the projectors between the HID and non-HID cars are exactly the same according to headlight modders on the forum.
I bought these to replace the regular h11's with the ground shadow but the light is still not uniform and instead of two large ground wire shadows, i have multiple thinner shadows. Not sure if its because i got bad bulbs or if this is normal for HID's in a halogen housing.
I have the ground shadow and to be honest I could give a SH*T because it is 10 times better than the crappy H11 incandescent bulbs that came with the car. Buy the right kit and that will solve your problems. Rant over

Its really hard to tell the lines with this picture. Its more obvious when your driving around and the lines are moving against the ground.
My plan now is juat ad some drls where vents are and keep them on that way it will cover up close and this hid kit is at least 3x better. Dont know what was nissan thinking when they was making this car. What would be good color match for my 6k ?
Thanks
Thanks
So when i look at the light source itself, i see this irregular round shadow on the plastic housing which i believe translates to the shadow/lines that i'm seeing on the ground

Most LED temperatures are 6000k, and unless noted it can be 5000k. You should be okay with finding any LED DRL to match your HIDs if they are 5-6k.
Thanks for the picture. The next time I take my car out at night, I'll snap some pictures. I see the ground shadows in the picture, and I do not believe my car has it. I'll take a closer look like I said. It can be the bulb that is the issue as the projectors on the Maxima are identical for both the xenon and non-xenon cars. Have you contacted TRS about this? They are very responsive on their product lineup.

This is going to happen b/c halogen projectors are designed for a less intense light source, too much of the light is focused towards the center of the beam. I switch my lens with the Black Body lens from TRS on my halogen projectors and it helped some, but not enough. So I eventually just bought a pair of the Maxima HID projectors and added the Black Body lens to those too and it looked amazing, very wide, very smooth, and very uniform. If you want that uniform look then you can directly swap the projectors in the housing with some HID ones to get the output i think you want.
