The Retrofit Source

I recently purchased LED lights blubs for my fogs and decided to grab a Morimoto kit from TRS. Needless to say, these lights are bright as hell. The best kit on the market hands down. Now the issue now is, these out shine my OEM HID head lights. Question is, are their any 6k REPLACEMENT bulb set that will work with the oem ballasts. (TRS wasn't sure if their D2S bulbs would work property as a replacement).

I buy from them on the regular. Loveeee their products and they are the best that aftermarket has to offer.

Here's what I recommend. Enjoy!

Even the 3Five bulbs should be fine but the XB35s are better and worth the extra money IMHO.

Charlie @ TRS

Hi, how can we help you today?

You - Click here to change

I am trying to replace my D2S hid bulbs for my nissan

I see the XB35 is not compatable

Charlie @ TRS

Yeah exactly, you would want to use either the Philips or Osram OEM brands

Aftermarket bulbs will not reliably function with that ballast

XB35s are fine as are 3Fives. Others will chime in and agree.

I wouldn't recommend something that won't work.

the threeFIVE's work on my 09, but my buddy's 2014 they don't come on all the time so he exchanged them. a bunch of the 7th gens in our Max FB group confirmed the same, they had issues too. theres a reason they say on their site it doesnt work with all Nissan/Infiniti.. the 09 and 14 ballasts have different part numbers so they must have changed something

So I have a 2010 and have the same problem since putting 6k fogs on my car. Is the ballast the same as the 2009 on the 2010? Was looking at matching to the soft tinge blue of 6k as my fogs.

well fogs shouldnt be related. if you added aftermarket fogs, id recommend a relay kit if you didnt use one. that way they pull power from the battery when igniting the bulb and dont rely on the OEM wires, which in most cases weren't designed to handle that.

not sure if the ballasts are the same for those years. i cant tell if its just random Matsu****a ballasts that dont work as TRS indicates, or if its a specific revision of them that dont. but my client had an issue with them igniting every time and it got old quick, they have had 0 issues with their Osrams

Thanks Dan, I agree as it also took me a bit more inquiring with TRS to come to the same realization. It would be better if they (TRS) could indicate the actual applicability in regards to each year of the 7th gens.

For the foglight issue, you definitely should do use a relay. However, I've also had problems with the latest Morimoto ballasts even on a relay not firing when you turn the lights on multiple cars. So far I just deal with the issue, but probably should reach out to them.

For the OP, where on the TRS site did you find the LEDs? I see the Morimoto LED foglights, but not bulbs. Got any pictures?
