Found a rattle
Found a rattle
Thought I'd post this in case somebody has a similar problem.
The rattle was very hard to isolate. These sounds play games with your mind, not the first time I discover that. You have to investigate assiduously even in areas where you don't really expect.
I had a buzzing noise from what I thought was the rear right door, but never isolated it. Took the car to the dealer, and of course we could not reproduce it then. The noise appears on higher speeds, when you touch the smallest cracks. Was going for 2 hours on 88 west the other day and the buz was almost non stop and made me want to drive the car into a pole to make it stop.
It was the rear shader, that you can lift. I went tapping nearby several times but never made the noise. You have to try different taps though, stronger and kind of sharp. Then I heard the exact buzz that bothers me. Lifting or dropping the shader does not make a difference, it still buzzes. But if I hold it with my finger, there is no buzz. Put a piece of paper - did not stop the buzz. Put a small cloth - no difference. My finger really stops vibrations better than those. Then I found a piece of foam from shipping box I got the other day. The foam was kind of med soft but had good pressure. It stopped the nose.
Two days now and no more noise. Nirvana.
Of course i don't plan on driving around with foam stuck there, and will be taking it back to the dealer, because in all honesty it sounds like a spring or a coil or something is unhooked and lose.

I found it parked, but like I said, I had checked for the shader before and found nothing and didn't look there again for a while. You have to tap around the whole area.
I will post an update when I take it back to the dealer. Perhaps its something that one can fix easy himself without having to take it there.
Also, I did not have that rattle in the first 2000 miles. Lets hope it stays tight for a while now, this thing really drove me insane a few times.
