Grinding feeling at 30 MPH

Ok, I've had my 2014 Maxima for a few weeks now, and I have noticed one weird thing with it. After every time I start the car and reach 30 MPH, I can hear a slight grinding noise and feel it through the gas pedal. I'm sure it has to be some kind of system check, since it only happens the first time I hit 30 MPH, and doesn't occur again until the car is restarted. It's kind of annoying in a way, but what is this?

Buuuhhh....I dunno here.

ABS system check happens at around 10-15mph. 30mph is most definitely not when the ABS check happens. Even then, you wouldn't feel it in the gas pedal.

Go get that checked out. Given the fact that it happen only once per drive cycle and only at 30mph makes me think it is something new that Nissan has added to the new models. Something different.

However - take it back to Nissan...or just call them and ask about it. They will either give an answer (like it's the ABS test) or say to bring it in.

On second thought - take it in to the dealer.

Late,
Trav

From what I have read and understood, the ABS and VDC check is supposed to occur at 16 MPH. I can feel whatever it is in the front end, and it echoes through the gas pedal. I'll check better the next time I drive the car, and make sure I get the exact speed when it occurs. If it indeed happening at a later speed, I'll take it in or find out from the dealer. Maybe it's something different on the 2014 models? Anyone else with a 2014 that notices this on their car?

Same here. Just listened for this sound this morning and heard something at 30 for sure. Must be a systems check but sounds ugly for that.

My 2013 (got it brand new several months ago) does the same thing at 30 exactly.

Glad to see that my car is not screwed up, and that other owners are experience the same thing. I'll probably stop by the dealer in the next week or so to see if they can tell me what it is, or if there is a fix for it.

I agree, it sounds really bad for a system check. For what a new Maxima costs, you would assume that more effort would have been invested into making the system check less detectable. This is my only complaint with the car so far.

My 2014 has it too, sometimes associated with a audible thump but the clunky feeling of the car is there at around 25-30 MPH and I can feel it slightly in the gas pedal.

Just wondering as well, have you checked if your turn signals have the "flash-to-pass" where it will signal for three times before it turns off? And when are you scheduled for your first oil change?

What is the flash to pass? I've used the turn signals, but they turn off one the wheel returns to a straight position.

The dealer scheduled my first oil change for sometime in November when I bought the car. I don't plan on letting them do it, since I do all maintenance work on my cars and it's not free from the dealer. Plus I'm OCD and will probably change the oil and filter once the car reaches 1,000 miles, since it's a new engine.

Check out this video @ 15 seconds. I know it is for an Altima, but the "lane change" feature is stated in the Maxima owner's manual except it doesn't work on my car and the service tech said we cannot enable it.
