WTH is the thing on the lower left of dash under trunk button???

Over the last few weeks of ownership I have tried to figure out whats what. This damn thing has me stumped. Well honestly I really didn't pay much attention to it but since I am here at work and had a minute I figured I would post the question. The device pushes in and is electronic. I actually took that whole panel out of the car temporarily to mount a bass **** next to it for my subs which I thought was cool. In any case what is this thing. LOL

The only thing I see is where the key fob is inserted when its battery is low

HAHA Johnny you might be right buddy. WTF So I went down there and to take a couple pictures. I took the first and wanted to actually push the button in a second time so IRONICALY I used my fob and the **** started flashing. LOL That is to much. SO does it charge the fob or just something that allows you to push start the car still? Also on my Challenger if I pop off the push start button cover I have a typical key start ignition. Is the Maxima the same setup?

It doesn't charge the battery but allows you to start the car. You need to change the battery. btw, the fob also has a metal key in it so you can unlock the door if the fob is weak. (I just found this out after 6 months of ownership) Turn over fob and push the little tab and pull out the key.

As far as I know you can't pop the push button off.
Enjoy your new ride!

Thats exactly what this spot is for, to start the max when the fob battery is low or dead. Make sure to get the cr2032. It pops open really easy and you can do this in like 2 mins. The car will let you know when its dying, which i thought was cool. But not after i just bought it with 35k miles lol but keep it changed and youll be set.

Not to be cocky but why don't more people read their manual. It's all in there.

I had to read mine because i got a crash course at like 10pm the night i bought the max and drove her home. Didnt really get much support from the dealer and this was actually my first "repair" on this car. Have not had any issues since.
