HID advise needed!

Hey guys, I bought a 2011 maxima recently and I am new to the forums. My car came with factory Xenons, and I was thinking about changing the color of my fog lights. I can't decide between putting in a white bulb(halogen) or getting a blue HID's (~10 K). The car is white and I was wondering if anybody has already done this and has pictures to share or has any feedback for me.

Thanks in advance.

(I know I spelled advice wrong in the title)

I did he HID fogs upgrade. 35w 5000K , matches the factory look of the Headlights almost perfect , I will try and post pics. really not difficult job. jackup the car on one side. removed the plastic under pan. about 12 small plastic clips. and reach up and twist out. lots of room for the HID ballast. 20 min job max. 1 person.

I did the same as well. I have 8k headlights & 6k fogs. IMO I wouldn't do the 10k's. They look very pretty but their distance on the road is horrible! Can barely see especially if it's raining or fog. Barely looks like your lights are on.

I'll post pics of mine asap

OE HID applications run on 4300K temperatures, as this provides the most lumens (brightness) at around ~3100 lumens*. As you progress upwards in the temperature scale, you are sacrificing color for brightness. Pick your battles, but I would stick to 6000k as your absolute maximum.

*There are more expensive aftermarket applications out there ($200-400 a pair) of HID bulbs that have a higher color temperature (6000k max) that have the same performance as a 4300k bulb.

Visit TRS if you want some more info on bulbs:

Which HID kit are you running and how is the cutoff against the wall? I'm planning to take this mod on next. I'm getting tired of looking at my HIDs and then seeing a pair of pale yellow foglights. It really makes the car look dated.

I am going to assume that you do not have HID in your headlights?

I did Morimoto 6000K XB35 HID's for low beams, the stock fogs now look yellowish. Decided to embrace the look and just ordered a set of Nokya Hyper Yellow H11's for the fogs. If I don't like to look, I'll probably get another 6000K kit for the fogs.
