7th generation Maxima a noise at speeds of 80 Miles an hour do you have the same noise' Curious what it is? it goes away when i go back to 60 mil, // sound like a whining noise // IS THAT NORMAL FOR CVT TRANS

It's the sound of your cvt transmission screaming for HELP! On a serious note, when the cvt heats up due to driving behavior and external temperatures the cvt will begin to whine and at times limit power by going into limp mode. I'd suggest slowing downing some and go easy on your cvt until you check your fluid level and condition.

1st step - check your transmission fluid. STAT! Don't wait - do it now. It should be a very very light tan color and should not smell or look burnt.
If either of these conditions are true - change it immediately and drive her REAL easy to go to the dealership or garage.
Second - with 120,000 miles on my 2010, I can tell you for CERTAIN that driving 80mph (or 90mph) won't cause this kind of noise from this transmission. Going 80mph isn't exactly easy on the transmission, but it does NOT cause heat buildup in the transmission. The transmission cooler on these cars is more than capable of cooling the transmission at freeway speeds.
