Jack Points

I'm thinking about doing my own oil changes in my flat drive way. Help me out here with the "jack points". Can I use a floor jack ? Where on the car would it go? Thanks.

You can definitely use a floor jack but me personally I never rely on jacks. Anytime I jack up my car I always use the metal rod that's underneath the driver or passenger door by the mudflaps. If you look under the car you'll see it. It goes from the front to the back of the car & it fits in the grooves of the jack. After I jack it I use a jack stand to hold it up.

If you decide like some folks & jack it up from the front with a floor jack, jack it in the middle right underneath the engine. It's the only solid area to jack underneath the front. You can remove the plastic cover under the front to see where it is, although I wouldn't recommend jacking it up from the front.

Using a jack is fine but whenever I change my oil in my driveway I use car ramps. My driveway has a slight incline to it so I use that to my advantage when I drive up on the ramps to get most of the oil out. If you don't have ramps there are points on either side of the car like blackmaximus said made specifically for jacking up the car. Of course if you use them you should put the car on jack stands.
