Winter tire questions

Hey guys just curious, I can get a good deal on a set of 17" i35 wheels with 2 NEW snow tires and 2 with NEW all season tires. 215/55/17
Snow - Firestone Winterforce / All Season - Westlake SV308. Is that a good idea or should avoid this set up. They would be going on a 2010 maxima or should i go for a used set of continental extreme DWS but the size is 245/40/18. Thanks for the help.

I'd probably recomend the continentals but if you don't have 18" rims you may want to go with the other setup or keep looking. Personally i would go with 4 of the same tires all winters rather than 2 winters and 2 all season but thats just my opinion. Winter tires have a softer rubber compound than all season and i would want to make sure they all have the same tread pattern.

Yes i do have the factory 18" wheels but am in need of new tires. Would the 245/40/18 be that much of a difference than the 245/45/18 from the factory.

The overall diameter will be smaller and it will throw off your speedo. Look for a 245/45.

I just bought Michelin X Ice 3 for stock 18" rims in 245 45 18 size.
Always drive on the same size and brand of tire at all four corners.
All season on one end and winter on the other compromises ride, safety and handling.

My plan is to purchase a nice set of summer rims in the spring.

If you want to save a little I suggest getting going the 17" and get 225/55/17.

That is what I'm using for my winter setup for the last couple of years and it works great, as I live in Canada the land if igloos.. lol

Its a slightly smaller profile but yes they will mount to your rim. It may throw off your Speedo but probably barely noticeable. Maybe off like a km or 2. Continentals are a pretty good tire just be sure they're a winter tire and in good condition if you're in a pinch and getting them used.
