Eibach spring install

I am installing eibachs on my 2009 Maxima and I got the rear spring in but after it was installed it just did not look right to me. The top coils that are closer together look like they are touching. Is this right? It doesn't seem like they should be touching. Anyone that has installed these have you ran into this?

The coils were almost touching before there is any load on them. Did you happen to take a picture of them before you put them on? Then you could see for yourself.
It doesn't surprise me that the are touching after installed.
Mine had a rubber sleeve over one coil so they wouldn't make noise when they were touching.

That's part of how they lower your car. Essentially, only the bottom 1/2 to 2/3 of the spring will do anything as the top compresses very quickly. I had that kind of spring on my car and couldn't wait to get them off as the ride was incredibly harsh.

Hopefully you will not have that experience.

Aren't Eibach known to be harsher ride? Could be your strut setup too

No, the eibachs for our car offer a great ride and is not harsh at all.

Eibachs and harsh don't go together at all.

So I got both rears in and they both did the same thing. I am hoping that is just how it is setup in the rear. On the fronts the driver side went together just fine, the passenger side I am having trouble getting the spring/strut bearing into the spring. If I flip it over with the lettering facing down it will fit but with the lettering facing up the bearing will not fit. Can I install the spring upside down without it affecting too much? Has anyone else ran into this issue? Thought this would be a straight forward install but has been more of a pain in the ***. Kind of wishing I went with coilovers.

Been searching around this forum and others and it appears that springs do leave the factory with the lettering wrong. If I install it with the lettering upside down it fits just fine, the other way with the lettering right side up the strut mount and bearing do not fit correctly.

Damn,, this would have someone truly pissed who hasn't done springs before because common sense says follow the information out there which says label up.

I have done springs before, even eibach springs and know that label goes up. Label even went up on the driver side with no issues. On this one, with the label up it will not work.

I'd even dare say mine rides better with the eibachs than it did stock. Not harsh but very solid feeling going down the road no floating feeling anymore. I also matched it with a stillen rear sway bar and even running on 30 series tires and 20" wheels it rides very nicely. Keep in mind I stay away from every bump and hole in the road I can so maybe the guys who say it's rough don't avoid potholes? ? Just a thought.

Heck, potholes suck on a stock sport suspension with the factory 19's so I cant imagine the eibachs or 20's being much worse

Does this gen have tein springs? Wouldn't a h-tech setup offer a smoother ride than the Eibach setup?

So I called eibach this morning and spoke to their R&D department. After doing some measurements and discussion it was determined that the markings were indeed wrong on the spring. I installed it and compared to the driver side that was already on and it was the same. They did say while rare the markings can be put on wrong from time to time.

What kind of measures did you do?

Measured the diameter of the top and bottom coils as well as the second coil to third coil from the top and from the bottom. Basically they said it was a middle progressive spring with the tightly spaced coils near the bottom of the spring. Drove the car around town for a while and it drove great. Everything felt tight, no odd noises, and the ride was very similar to the stock sport suspension. Once these settle in gonna take it in for an alignment but it drove damn near straight and perfect already with no pulls to either side. Anyone on the fence about eibachs I would say go for it.
