Have you heard of this? My brand new 2014 Maxima shipped with a non-functional switch on one of the rear reading lights. Dealer will fix under warranty but the fix requires removal of the entire ceiling liner which apparently requires windshield removal so as not to bend the liner.

Maybe I was being sold a bill of goods. Maybe they are trying to discourage me from having the repair done because the service manuals instruct you to remove the liner out the rear door. The dealer said there is a "slight off-chance" it could be removed through the door.

Here's the deal... to repair the personal lamps you need to order a new headlining because it comes as an assembly, as per the doc:

The following components are integral to the headlining and are repaired only as an assembly:
• Personal lamps (LH/RH).
• Roof harness assembly.
• Antenna feeder assembly.
• Dual lock attachments
• Magnets

You can always count on a Nissan dealer to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling about your new car.

I changed mine to LEDs, the covers pop off, but I don't think you could get the back part out without removing the headliner. Mine is a 14 too
