P0101 Code, MAF?

Hey guys, my Maxima is taking 13L/100K normal driving 50% highway 50% city.

I am still under-warranty with the used-car shop and they dont want to replace the MAF sensor -- they keep telling me to come back. I've deleted the code twice, and the filter is fine as well, assuming this comes out of my own pocket should I try the CRC spray from Canadian Tire or hassle them for a brand new sensor?

I'm kinda angry because the brake pedal has that rubber sound -- brake booster, should I just suck it up and buy the expended warranty from Nissan, its only a two year old car!

for 3k they would cover me for 3 years(nissan warranty, used care no name warranty, cheaper and probably crappier), 0 deductible -- the question is? worth it?

I dont know about the rest of it BUT i can say about that code. I had it also, tried clearing it a couple of times and it come back, So.. i went to the dealer thinking it was a bad Maf sensor. NOT... they reprogramed the ECM an all is well.. there is a bulletin on it so it should not cost anything.. all warrenty. At least it was for me, Check it out. That Maf sensor is around 600 usd if you pay for it, (dealer quote), Good luck.

That conversation I linked was on page 2 of this forum. So maybe you need a trip to a dealer and see if this TSB applies to you.

totally out of warranty on the KM's part which sucks, I wonder how much the TSB would cost to pay of of pocket this is why I am wondering If I should do the 60k nissan warranty. 0 down for 3k, or major parts engine & cvt for 1.8k.

I would try a junkyard or maybe rock auto. RA has some Hitachi and Beck/Arnley MAFs for under $100. Worth trying.

I had the frequent check engine light for the MAF. Dealer first replaced the MAF sensor, but a couple months later it came back. I took it back and they said there is a service bulletin for the issue. They reprogramed the ECU per NTB12-051J and I haven't had an issue since.

Yea I will try and pick up a new one but first going to try if the code will pop again and have them do the labour on it. I am just really concered about the gas milage. I thought it was eco heh. My altima 2004 3.5se didn't take 13, and it was a regular tranny so something is definately wrong... although one would think the two are related (code and gas consumption)

I've downloaded the TSB and will goto the dealer I might buy the warranty but I know all too well how those work..... not just at Nissan but anywhere really.

Mass airflow meter has a direct affect on fuel consumption. More air=more fuel.

I had this problem too.

Code popped up randomly
Went to dealer (They preformed the ECM reprogram)
After 15 days the code came back and they said my intake was loose?
So they wiped the code again
Im currently on 14 days and no code yet!

Keep us posted with your car!
