I'm looking to replace my shocks and struts and have a couple quick questions:

1) Does anyone have thoughts on OEM vs other brands? I'm fine spending extra money if it will get me better equipment, just want the best ride possible.

2) I found two different numbers for the OEM front struts, one supersedes the other. Can anyone tell me which number is the newer version? E43029N00D and E43029DA0A.

3) I would love to lower my car, but live in Iowa where we have gnarly winters so I think I should stay stock height. Is there any reason to replace the springs while I have it all taken apart anyway? Are there other parts I should replace while I have it apart (bushings, end links, etc)?

Anyone done this recently and have any tips or other advice for me before I start ordering parts?

I have everything(Shocks, Struts, and Springs F&R) you need all OEM, shoot me a pm I'm going post them up in the classifieds later on tonight or tomorrow. Maybe 200miles on them before I went with coilovers. Thanks..

Dude i feel ya. Live here in Nebraska and i'm so tempted to drop my car but then I think about the crappy can't leave your house kinda snow

 

I have about 150K on my 09 maxima SV and I just replaced my shocks and struts and I ended up just getting the Monroe OE replacements from Rockauto, they are cheap and they drive like factory. I'm impressed with them. easy install same as factory! P.s. I did not replace the springs as I have the Eibach set, I also replaced my mounts for the front( I went with the Moog)

 

I also went with the Monroe OE replacements. Car definately feels better now.

You do not need to replace the springs, but may want to do the strut mounts & bearings while it's taken apart, also replace the bumpstops/dust-boots.

 

Thanks for the tips guys! I ended up buying some shocks/springs from someone that has a sport model and put coilovers on it immediately, so the shocks/springs should be like new. I'm ordering new bearings and mounts too. Anyone have suggestions on brands for the bearings and mounts? Moog? Does it matter?

 

I went with KYB for the mounts & bearings. Got them from Amazon.
