TPMS Question (Yes I searched)

Putting on winters [2012 Maxima SV/Non Tech]:

Bought:

225/50/18 TIRES x 4pcs
18x7.5 [5x114.3bolt, 67.1bore, 42offset] RIMS x 4pcs

Called Nissan about the TPMS (Going to relearn myself, NP) and they said that my part number is 40700-3AN0B.

Question:

Can I put on another universal type TPMS? Or is it a one and only any guides for which are directly replaceable?

I also bought TPMS sensors from Rockauto for about 40 bucks each, they are direct fit and have been working great, I got them programed from Discount Tire for Free cause they mounted my wheels. Not worth buying them from the Stealership.

Thanks for the replies guys!

So apparently there are new ones out that don't need the flipping of programming every winter, they 'copy' the code from your summers/OEM and you just swap them on/off like you would anywhere else.

I will post back but for 70 w/tax vs 104+tax+programming -- I say stealership can go suck an egg.

I figure this is the best route as I want them on an installed before the first snowfall(no waiting on ebay, amazon, etc), where everyone will be all up in arms and going crazy to get theirs on too. Then god knows when you can 'squeeze' in an appt.

Sorry didn't mean to hate, but just tired of having my leg pulled and having to pay money for things we did ourselves back in the day with a jack and a few stands.

Just trying to spread the overall consumer knowledge for alternate options

Speaking of which how much is your discount at the dealership -- trust me when I had mine all was well too

Thats whats Im saying, regular folk don't get that so the expenses start to add up. If aftermarket does it better going after market, and the dealerships should at least make an effort to compete with those prices.

But anyways this thread is about TPMS so Ill let everyone know what got popped in and how they work.

Smart Sensor Pro is what they use -- but at the end of the day the price of putting everything on was like 500 dollars. I cant do it

69.99x4 - sensors
5x4 - tpms install charge
20x4 - 18" tire balance & install
+taxes

----

Gonna skip my last question is does the light just come on, or does it flash, or does it beep. because beeping would be highlyyyyyy annoying.

7th gen 2012 maxima w/ monitor [no e column]

Do not buy them from the dealership. I bought a set of 4 from eBay for $55. Nissan part # 40700-1AA0B. Discount tire will program them to your car for free if you purchase your tires from them. They will also program your tpms for free anytime you want to switch in between sets of tires. The universal ones Discount Tire sells will work but they charge $40 a piece for them.

So the dealership changed the part number on purpose just to confuse people... Oh wow...

:/

Still looking into it.

Im fine with doing the relean process myself -- not sure if we have a discount tire 'round here.
