How to charge key fob

It's the keyless entry fob. How do I charge? I put in the left hand slot by steering wheel but it doesn't light up or do anything. I've left it in there for a 20 min drive and I still get notice of low battery on my dash. Anyone have ideas?

The fob isn't actually a chargeable fob. The hand slot you had put it in is simply to hold it in place while driving. If you open the key fob at the seam it will open up and show you the battery. Replace it and out cover back on and your set to go

If I am not mistaken, I think that I read someplace that in the event that the battery in the fob were dead, inserting it into this slot would allow you to still start the car...

Right, so FOB battery is dead, can't open car. Use metal key in FOB to open car, insert FOB in slot so you can start car. Drive to store, buy new battery for FOB.

And be careful not to touch the metal battery contacts inside the key FOB.
