Broken tilt mirror, 3rd time

I've had my 2010 Maxima in the shop for the tilt mirror problem 3 times under warranty. The last time in Jun of this year. Now here we are in Dec and the passenger side mirror no longer tilts and I'm out of warranty, (of course).

I looked at my paperwork and got the actuator part number and ordered one from Courtesyparts.com for $48. Has anyone here replaced their actuator?

I found a video on youtube but it wasn't the best. I suspect it should be a simple job, my only concern is that I don't break the glass taking the mirror apart.

How long is the warranty for the repair job they did in June? You would think it would be more than 5 months.

I replaced entire mirror myself after catching it on side of garage. Online directions were pretty good and it is a straightforward fix. While in there, take time to silicone LED turn signal to keep moisture from building up.

I would say toughest part was removing painted shell from mirror assembly. It takes a bit more pressure to remove it than I thought it would.

Forgot to mention: I transferred all the internal parts from my mirror to the new housing before installing on car. It was pretty easy to change over the parts as well.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably put some silicone on the actuator as well. Since this is the 3rd time mine has broke. I wash my car every week and I'm guessing that the water is getting inside the part making it malfunction.

Once you're out of warranty repairs are on you. I called and that's basically what I was told.

The new actuator arrived today. I popped out the glass, inspected the internals and figured out what I had and went to work. I removed 4 phillips head screws, unplugged the power wire and had everything back together in less than 10 mins. My tilt mirrors work again and it only cost me $48. Nissan wanted to charge $150 for the job, parts and labor.

When this actuator fails, (and I'm certain it will) based on the fact that after 2 days it's already clicking and pointing the mirror outwards after I put the car in drive from reverse. I guess I'll just have to turn that feature off and use it only when necessary.

Doesn't the actuator and the switch have to be calibrated so that the mirror is in the correct position relative to the movement of the switch?

Not according to the instructions I received with the actuator. Its simply plug and play. I inspected my old part and it didn't have any lubricant on the arm that pushes the mirror down. I literally had to force the arm in on the old part as it was stuck in the open position. On the next warm day I'm going to take the mirror apart again and spray some lithium grease on the actuator in the hope that it will keep water and dirt from getting inside the part.
