...with snow

I recently moved back to Colorado and I have been stuck twice in the last week. This was this morning:



I got stuck literally 15 feet from where I park at my office. A quick run over to the office to grab a shovel and I barely got unstuck.

Unfortunately I will be raising the car back up since the car drags on the snow and running Conti DWS 06 on the factory wheels moving forward.

Sounds like a good plan. Might want to see how the car handles the snow just with the wheel/tire change before raising it back.

Exactly the plan :-) Thinking stockers with spacers and DWS for starters.

Why not winter tires instead of 3 season tires. They will perform much better than all seasons.

We've been lucky here in Chicago-- very little snow so far this winter.
I've got the 19" Sport rims on my 2014. Even though I had under 10,000 miles on my car, I bought Continental DWS6's in October not wanting to go a second winter with the Goodyear RSA's.
Figures that I dropped all that money on tires and we'll probably end up with a mild winter... LOL

Also an option. I am all over the map right now.

So I am going to run BFG Comp 2 A/S on my 18" wheels. I am not going full winters because my last set lasted me 8,000 miles at $250 each. I should have them on tomorrow.

I drop off my car this morning at Discount. A hour later they are done. I go to pick up the car but they installed Comp 2 not Comp 2 A/S. I spoke to 3 reps at Discount including the one I ordered over the phone from and confirmed A/S with every one of them wtf? One of the reps even told me they should do good in the snow just to find out he was speaking about the Comp 2s (mind blown). Now the car sits at Discount waiting for Comp 2 A/S to be installed tomorrow.

I will say my 20" wheels are much heavier than the 18" wheels. It will be nice to have less unsprung weight back especially with these factory shocks.

I installed my snow tires this past weekend and my Maxima now feels like a rocket going from the stock Sport 19s to the lightweight winter 17 inch rims. 19s feel 5-10 pounds heavier than the 17s to me.

Now waiting for the next snow storm. Not winter tires but better than my 20" alternative.

We used to get snow in the UK.

Ok so after the last snow of over a foot and icy streets after the sun goes down, I have decided the BFGs just are not going to cut it.

MICHELIN® X-Ice® Xi3 are going on next week!

I have 20" rims and summer performance tires and I got the factory 18" wheels with Hankook Ws409 winter tires and I am also lowered on Eibach springs and I have never had any issues at all! I live in Michigan and granted this winter is a joke last years winter was pretty bad and where most cars were getting stuck I was playing around, by far the best winter tires I've ever owned! not cheap but you have to pay for greatness I guess.

Thats good to hear! I look forward to giving the X-Ice a try.

These should handle the snow better.
