7th gen timing problems

Hey guys. I have a 09 Maxima with 135,000 My cel came on with the typical p0014 code exhaust valve timing control. I took it to the dealer. They told me it would solve my problem. I had to do it for Illinois emissions testing. After paying close to $900 to get it fixed, after less than a month, its starts running like crap & i have the same code. So I take it back & they say that the valves were installed correctly that now it may be the timing chain to the tune of $2300. So of course I dont have that kind of money. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions would be great.

I would get a price quote from an independent shop, you can a much cheaper price quote. The dealership that you are taking you max to seems to be incompetent (probably screwed something up) and price gouging.
