question on my 2013 maxima sport
my lease comes up in july . if i keep it i have to pay $22,000.00
the car will have by then approx 34,000. miles out of 45,000 on the lease.
looking at current used values of approx.$ 17,000.00 ( i think, my car is loaded and msrp was around 42,000. but they offered it to me for 32,000 (should have bought it ,not leased )
i do not like the new design nor do i expect it to be reliable for a few years .
any ideas or thoughts from you guys ..................i do like this car ......

turn the lease in and get another one if that is what you want. Given the new model, your residual will likely be higher than if you just purchased another used one on your own. In both scenario's you would still have to pay taxes and such so I would just ditch it and get another one for cheaper. I am already seeing 2013s SV with nav for $22k retail with 15k on them so in july you should do well. Rarely is it advantageous to buy at lease end.

You likely would have been better off just buying for $32,000, and could likely find a similar car for a bit less when the lease is up. However, I would rather have a car I knew was maintained and cared for properly, even if it costs a few thousand more. One of the main reasons I purchased my Max new was so I could ensure CVT wasn't beat on and premium fuel was always used.
As for 8th gen being more reliable in a few years I doubt it. Both our Nissan's are later model years and still have similar issues to earlier models (Armada-exhaust manifolds, Maxima-bearing issue). Nissan seems particularly adept at NOT fixing issues with its vehicles throughout the model run.

I just did a quick search on cargurus.com and saw a '13 Maxima SV, loaded, for $20,333 with 10k less miles (24,691 miles).
