New rubber...thoughts?

The Maxima I just bought has the Firehawk wide oval tires on it. The car drives great and I really do enjoy them all around, but they are 80% worn. (dealership told me since I got 4k off asking price that he wasn't going to put new tires on it for me, I understood) I priced out some new ones through my local Firestone shop for $864 all in (taxes, fees, road hazard, etc) I also have a $200 credit at that shop because they messed something up a few months ago on a repair for another car. So I think I'm going to go that route and get the Firehawks again. They also quoted me on the Potenza's and Driveguard Run-Flats... both around $1200. Read the reviews on both and found the Potenzas are awful road noise and wet weather handling (I live in SC - it rains here enough to have that be an issue) and the Driveguards are just not really a performance tire, that is really expensive.

I know I am giving you a limited selection to choose from because I want to use my $200 credit that will expire soon and I would never bring any thing back to them to repair ever.

So your thoughts on my decision to go with the Firehawks?

I recommend the BF Goodrich g-Force Comp 2's A/S's. I got some put on my ride and let me tell you, not only do they look great on our cars, but they handle insanely well in wet conditions. Highly recommended! They are a little meaty which gives the car more of an aggressive look. Not sure if your looking for more of a low-pro or not. Anyways, it's worth a look into them. Good luck!

I do like the meaty look. I checked out your album, great looking car. Im going to order the MGP caliper covers that you have. I think they add a nice touch behind the stock rim. I have the 19"s too, I think Itll look great.

Ill check to see if I can get a quote on those tires, see what the cost is.

Thanks

Here in Tampa the rain is a major issue too. That and road noise were my two prime criteria when I picked a tire.

I went with the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2's and absolutely love them. Sounds like a Firestone dealer where your credit is. That's where I got mine, they can get any brand tire.

Exactly, credit is at the Firestone shop. I didn't realize they could order anything, that changes everything. Thank you, Ill price out those Hankooks with them.

I'll 2nd the BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2s. I changed over to these since moving to Cali and have never gone back to A/S or any other summer tire.
