2014 Nissan Maxima Cabin Filter

I own a 2014 Maxima and was suggested by Nissan that my cabin air filter needs to be replaced. I want to do it myself because I heard it's a simple process. Has anyone ever done it?

Yes.

It isn't that hard.

Look on YouTube.

I looked on YouTube, but most videos show other Nissan models can't find any 2014 maxima.

I thought I'd be easy but since I looked on YouTube some people said I had to take off my glove box and others said its under it I was confused.

The easiest way I found it was by sitting in the passenger seat and right about where your left foot touches the trim in the floorboard is where the latch is

The video is pretty good. But it doesn't give you a sense of how awkward it is to get to the filter location. That might be just because I'm old, but the prior generation where it was located behind the glove box was easier.

I tried to see if I located it yesterday and it was very uncomfortable getting to it.

Yeah, that's what drove me to do it on my own because the filter was only about $11

Hardest part is getting the filter back into place. But after a couple tries I got it and I saved over 80$! Thanks everyone.

A good reference site to use is www.carcarekiosk.com. It shows you how to repair basic things on all cars.

Poorly designed place for cabin air filter

One of the most difficult tasks I've ever done on any car. Very poor design to place the filter in such an area. If you don't like confined spaces, you won't like replacing the cabin air filter. I've done it 4 times now and twice the filter I removed had never re-expanded after putting it in. So, most of the dust and dirt was just going around the filter anyway. The tab to help remove the filter just ripped right off on the Fram filter I used once (Fram products suck). Getting the cover back on is almost impossible because the housing is tight up against other surfaces so the cover won't fit properly.

Consider just taking out the glove box. Lots more access.

Yeah. Simple, not easy. I screwed this up once by pushing in the filter lip too far. It too the guys at my dealership 45 minutes to get it out.
