I did the pathfinder and max today. The max was 10x easier than the PF as I had to actually cut the ac housing on the PF, yikes! Anyhow, there's only six screws and a clip between you and super-fresh air. Now the pics look scary.. yeah its harder than it needs to be. if the glove box came out by itself then this would be ultra simple.

Basically you remove the latch (2 screws), then the 4 screws around the glove box housing. Pull forward then down as there is a clip facing foward (right side) and it must be pulled out before pulling down. You'll know its loose. Again, super simple. Now, the air bag connector is stuck to the plastic housing, easy to plunk off there with needle nose, then let it hang. (whatever! however its not really dangerous. the manual doesnt even recommend removing the battery cable so it must not be a very important wire, still I wouldnt tug too much on it :) Then the connector for the glove comp. light.

The whole bottom half comes off. its just big and difficult to move around. the dash is very soft as you know so you just have to watch getting over zealous. mainly the right size is hooked into the rubber door seal. You kinda unhinge that. Again very simple but the piece is so big and unwieldy that remember how it comes off or getting it back on easily is a pain. It kinda stumped me for a min. It basically has to hook in on the right side first when putting it back on.

I got this in and drove tonite. I went through some dust being yardblower-ed into the road (i hate that). I didnt smell the mower, the grass or the dust!! I mainly needed it for that trip to Houston/Dallas next week (ack, supafunk air!:) I could feel no loss of airflow in ac, still very strong.

the pics...
that wire is right infront of the cover. it lifts up to release. Keep it, it holds the filters in.

the filters (2) slide in like this. One on top of the other.

yes.. it does but..

They only market these filters for the 2K lineup. Funny tho because the packaging had cars 97+ (like pathfinder and G20). So, dont get your hopes up that you can put one in, but yeah go for it if you can. Its a charcoal filter so it kills odor and filters dust.

Chebesto if this works keep us posted.

TimW. would you have a problem putting this write up on Maxima.org? I'm sure this will come up again.

yeah... I'd be happy to write it up..

the filters are
Code: B7200-3Y000
Price: $39.16

from Courtesy.. I paid $46 locally. Again, nissan is promoting these kinda hard. My dealer said he had been sent a ton of them.

Recommended swap every 7500 miles. I think it would largely depend on how dusty your enviroment is. Also, that access plate seems to be an easy way to gain access to clean out your housing whether doing the filters or not. There were some little leaf pieces I had a chance to clean out.

One more question

Are we saying here that by default, there is NO filter included in the 2K max, and this is just a little extra that we can include, or did you just chage the existing filters cause it was time to?

Thanks!

Does this filter both the A/C and "regular" air into the cabin? Do you think the filter will help with the mildew smell I get when I just vent outside air into the inside?

Great pics - thanks for posting them. I'm definitely getting these filters!

It sits between the blower and AC/Heat. So yes, i think all air is filtered.
