Oil change

Oil change
Does anybody recommend the synthetic oil for Maxima 2013? I used a conventional one and wanted to know if it is OK? Also for the gas if the premium is recommended?

FUEL RECOMMENDATION NISSAN recommends the use of unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number (Research octane number 96). If unleaded premium gasoline is not available, you may use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI number (Research octane number 91), but you may notice a decrease in performance.
As to synthetic oil, I have been using it for decades on all my vehicles. I have an 09 SV sport and the first oil change after dealer freebies ran out a couple of years ago, I switched to full synthetic. Just a better formulation for engine oil.

maximum performance put in the good stuff on gas and as far as oil you just can not go wrong with synthetic!

I had good luck with Castrol Syntec Edge that I ran in my 400HP Subaru STI. When my free oil changes go away I will run it in the Maxiama.

So regular unleaded just takes away performance? I always heard it was really detrimental in these engines.

The way I see it, the Maxima is designed to run on 91 octane. Anything less is a hindrance to efficiency, which is detrimental to the operation of the engine.

High compression engines should always use high octane gas

On my GLI, VW states that the power & torque specifications were attained with premium fuel. You can use regular, but performance levels will drop.
As for hurting the engine...I never really got into that. Why get a car knowing it recommends premium gas if that's not the person's intention? I just always use what the manufacturer recommends.

you bought a premium car give it premium fuel! Save now pay later, just my 2cents! Will it hurt the car, Who knows but IF it does you will kick your self for it later
