Weird A/C problems
Weird A/C problems
2012 SV- 108k
No previous problems with the A/C. A few weeks back, I was passing a few cars on a 2 lane highway, didn't see an oncoming car, and had to really drop the hammer to get around in time. Right after that, the A/C stopped blowing cold air and hasn't worked since. I immediately checked the fuses in the cluster (only 1 10amp which I thought was weird), all fuses good. The compressor doesn't engage at all. Not sure about the cooling fans that others have mentioned. Am I missing something simple here? I have looked and the compressor is still plugged in, but haven't checked the voltage. Any ideas as to why this might happen after running high rpms. Bad compressor? Clutch? I really would like to avoid the dealership or shop if I can. $$$
Thanks!

I have seen several clutch coil failures in Maximas and Altimas lately.
I would apply 12v directly to the compressor and see if the clutch engages.
To do this with the engine off is easier/better. It is a little trouble getting to the connector, but this would be a good test to rule out this component.
Based on my experience, this is probably the trouble. Just a coincidence that it happened after full throttle application though.
Of course if you are still under warranty this would qualify as a claim.

I am going through the exact same thing! this car has been good, no major problems until now.
I took it to a shop and they are saying that its a ground problem. my nephew is a certified
mechanic and he says its a problem with the clutch. if anyone finds the problem please post and let everyone know as I will do if I find out what the cause is for not working properly.
thank much,
RCabello

I've had my blower lower its speed and come back up on its own randomly maybe less than 5 times since March 2014. Any clue what that's about?
