Angry Intelligent key not working

I know this topic has been raised before but I need help.
2011 Maxima SV, 52 K miles
Current symptoms: Car will start with fob in fob slot on dashboard. No other functionality is available (fob buttons don't work, door and trunk buttons on car don't work, fob is only recognized when in slot). No 'low key battery' light is displayed.
I have taken the following steps:
replaced car battery
replaced fob battery (two different fobs)
disconnected car battery for 30 minutes with fob not present, put fob in slot and reconnected battery (saw this in another post)
tried the 'put fob in slot, use actual key to lock/unlock door' trick (saw in another post)
Is there a sensor or a fuse I should be looking at?
Help?

Yeah, that's probably the next step, didn't really want to go there. Thanks for the reply though.

Hopefully you replaced the FOB battery, before the car battery

As I think I said, yeah, had a bunch of them laying around, tested with a multimeter, thought I was golden. I'm posting this now to say that my Father in Law happened to have a brand new fob battery, in the package and that solved the problem. I probably should replace the 30 year old nine volt that runs my multimeter
